Abstract

This study aims to understand how civic communication, as a synthesis of civic education and communication, strengthens civic attribution and value transmission within the socio-cultural domain. This involves examining persuasive strategies to foster civic engagement and bonding shared values. The research employs a phenomenological method to explore the meaning and participant reflections concerning the synthesis of civic education and communication. Civic communication is understood as the process of shaping smart and good citizen through messages, media, and persuasive communication within public spaces, ultimately aiming for the common good. Furthermore, civic communication is intrinsically linked to deliberative democracy, both substantively and procedurally, encompassing civic engagement, collaboration, networking, and civic culture. Persuasive communication is primarily conducted by the civic community through digital and social media platforms. The recommendations derived from this research are: (1) Integrate civic communication studies into curricula to better achieve the goal of fostering smart and good citizen; (2) Develop and implement a persuasive and contextual civic communication model that empowers citizens with affirmation and self-efficacy, encouraging their engagement in achieving the common good
