Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive learning media based on the Scratch website (SITEX) to promote reading interest among fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Singonegoro in learning explanatory texts and to evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology using the ADDIE model, comprising five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research instruments included a questionnaire measuring students’ reading interest in the instructional materials, student and teacher response questionnaires, and validation sheets completed by media, content, and language experts. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques, including normality testing and paired-samples t-tests. The validation results indicated that the media achieved feasibility scores ranging from 0.82 to 0.97, placing it in the “Very Feasible” category. Small- and large-group trials demonstrated significant increases in students’ reading interest. In the small-group trial, the mean score increased from 41.6 to 52.4 (Sig. 2-tailed = .018), while in the large-group trial, it increased from 42.0 to 53.1 (Sig. 2-tailed < .001). By integrating audio, visual elements, quizzes, and interactive features, SITEX provides an engaging learning experience and encourages student participation. The findings indicate that SITEX is a feasible interactive learning medium for Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools and has the potential to promote students’ interest in reading explanatory texts.
