Abstract

Curcumin (diferuloylmethane), the primary bioactive compound in turmeric (Curcuma longa), is a natural polyphenol with proven pharmacological properties. Its safety and biodegradability, along with multifunctional health benefits, have been well-documented. However, curcumin exhibits poor water solubility. Consequently, curcumin shows low systemic bioavailability and rapid urinary excretion. A carrier matrix is essential to improve bioavailability and prolong systemic retention of curcumin, and one of carrier matrix that can be utilized is a bead matrix. In this study, bead matrices were prepared by combining a chitosan solution with lauric acid and carrageenan solutions and then dropping the mixture into a sodium hydroxide solution, which acts as an ionic neutralizing agent during bead formation. The encapsulation process was conducted by immersing the formed bead matrices in curcumin and glutaraldehyde solutions to facilitate crosslinking reactions with chitosan. The resulting bead matrices were analyzed using FT-IR spectroscopy to determine the interactions and bonds formed between the materials used. The results indicated that the encapsulation efficiency of curcumin was influenced by the concentrations of chitosan and lauric acid, with higher concentrations of both components leading to increased encapsulation efficiency.

Abstract

The increase in traffic volume, especially during long holidays coinciding with Eid al-Adha, can affect intersection performance and potentially cause issues such as changes in intersection capacity, degree of saturation, and traffic delays. Therefore, an analysis of intersection performance is necessary to evaluate the level of service at the Nusantara Three-Way Intersection in Cilacap. This study aims to calculate the intersection capacity, degree of saturation, traffic delay, and determine the level of service of the Nusantara Three-Way Intersection due to increased traffic volume. This research uses a quantitative approach based on primary and secondary data. The analysis was conducted according to the provisions of the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) 2023. The results show that the peak traffic volume occurred on Thursday, 5 June 2025, at 16:00– 17:00 WIB with a value of 886.40 PCU/hour (SMP/hour). The intersection capacity was 2,414.886 PCU/hour, with a degree of saturation of 0.367 and an average delay of 4.799 seconds per vehicle. The performance of the Nusantara Three-Way Intersection can be categorized as good, indicating that the level of service is still optimal and no additional lanes or traffic management measures are required

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Cigimbal, Kabupaten Cilacap dengan potensi sumber daya mangrove melimpah, khususnya buah pedada. Selama ini, buah pedada belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal dan sering kali terbuang. Melalui kegiatan ini, masyarakat didorong untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dalam mengolah buah pedada menjadi produk pangan inovatif berupa permen jeli, sekaligus menerapkan konsep ekonomi hijau yang berkelanjutan. Metode pelaksanaan mencakup observasi lapangan, identifikasi kebutuhan mitra, sosialisasi potensi pedada, pelatihan pembuatan permen jeli dengan teknologi pengaduk otomatis, serta evaluasi pengetahuan peserta melalui pre-test dan post-test. Mitra kegiatan meliputi Koperasi Mahardika Nusa Tani, pengelola Ekowisata Cigimbal Park, dan kelompok PKK. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan teknis, pemahaman sanitasi pangan, serta kesadaran akan potensi ekonomi lokal. Produk permen jeli pedada yang dihasilkan memiliki cita rasa khas, kandungan antioksidan alami, dan potensi sebagai pangan fungsional ramah lingkungan. Secara keseluruhan, program ini berkontribusi pada pelestarian mangrove, memperkuat identitas ekowisata, serta mendorong kemandirian ekonomi masyarakat pesisir.

Abstract

Ketapang leaves are an example of biomass that can be used to make briquettes. However, ketapang leaves produce a low calorific value, so they require additional ingredients to increase the calorific value, one of which is coconut shell. This research aims to evaluate how variations in raw material composition and adhesive content of tapioca flour affect the quality of briquettes on the parameters of calorific value, water content, ash content, volatile substances, fixed carbon content, and density. The method applied in this research involved mixing ketapang leaf charcoal and coconut shell charcoal, then adding adhesive in the form of tapioca flour. The study results showed that all the briquettes tested met SNI 8966-2021 standards except for the density parameter. The conclusion of this study is that the greater the composition of the briquette raw materials and the lower the adhesive content of tapioca flour, the better the quality of the briquettes. The mixed briquettes that produce the best quality are composed of 20% Ketapang leaf charcoal and 80% coconut shell charcoal. The tapioca flour adhesive that delivers the best quality briquettes is at a percentage of 5%.
