Abstract

This research aims to explore the concept of the child-free lifestyle within the framework of Maqasid Shariah, focusing on the ethical considerations and social implications associated with such a decision. The study seeks to understand how Islamic principles and objectives—preserving faith, life, intellect, progeny, and wealth—interact with the modern choice of living child-free. By utilizing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes various Islamic texts, scholarly opinions, and contemporary discussions on reproductive choices, providing an in-depth understanding of how the child-free lifestyle aligns with Maqasid Shariah. The findings reveal that while Maqasid Shariah emphasizes the importance of procreation for the continuation of society, it also recognizes individual autonomy, personal choice, and the preservation of well-being. The study concludes that, from a Shariah perspective, the child-free lifestyle may be considered ethically permissible under specific circumstances, especially when it aligns with the overall well-being and goals of an individual or couple. The implications of this research are significant for policymakers, religious scholars, and society at large, as it encourages a nuanced understanding of reproductive choices, personal freedom, and societal responsibilities in contemporary Islamic contexts.

Abstract

This research explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and communication strategies in promoting ethical practices within halal supply chain management. As the global halal market expands, the need for efficient, transparent, and ethically sound supply chains becomes critical. This study investigates how AI technologies can enhance operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with halal principles, and examines the role of effective communication in fostering stakeholder engagement and building consumer trust. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach that includes literature review and qualitative case studies, the research identifies key ethical challenges associated with AI, such as algorithmic bias and data privacy, while highlighting best communication practices to ensure transparency regarding halal compliance. The findings indicate that a synergistic approach combining AI-driven efficiencies with robust communication frameworks can significantly enhance the integrity and transparency of halal supply chains, offering actionable recommendations for businesses aiming to navigate the complexities of AI integration while upholding halal values.

Abstract

Character development education for children remains largely overlooked, with the majority only receiving instruction within elementary school classrooms, lacking practical activities to enhance their awareness. In our community empowerment project at the Baitul Hidayah Foundation, we endeavored to address this gap by providing materials, educational sessions, games, and project activities centered around children's character development, employing the 4-color character approach. Our efforts were guided by research focusing on children's character education and its impact on their comprehension of the significance of possessing good character to nurture positive relationships with peers, siblings, and others. Furthermore, following the outcomes of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving the Baitul Hidayah Cijantung Foundation and Group 6 members, it became evident that the Baitul Hidayah Foundation had previously neglected character development education for its students, to the extent of never incorporating it into their curriculum. Therefore, our Community Empowerment Group 4 set out to rectify this deficiency by educating students at the Baitul Hidayah Foundation about the importance of character and providing guidance on its practical application.

Abstract

The village is envisioned as a community-driven tourist destination, rooted in the cultural heritage and wisdom of its inhabitants, with the potential to serve as an engine for sustainable economic growth. Presently, the government is formulating a priority program aimed at instilling the principles of sustainable development within the tourism sector, with a specific emphasis on rural areas. These tourist villages are designed to serve as direct platforms for fostering community awareness about the tourism potential inherent in their surroundings, while also embodying the principles of Sapta Pesona within the local environment at tourist destinations. Moreover, they represent crucial partners for local governments, collaborating to realize and enhance tourism opportunities within their respective regions. Geographically, the Keranggan Ecotourism Village benefits from its proximity to the Cisadane river, located not far from the bustling city center of BSD. Blessed with natural beauty and conditions, alongside the livelihoods of numerous residents engaged in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in producing a variety of chips, the village has become a hub of economic activity. This has led to the emergence of a multitude of MSME actors within sectors such as recreation, food, and homestay accommodations. Collaborative management initiatives, in tandem with several universities, have the potential to drive regional economic growth, while simultaneously preserving the environment and fostering prosperity among the local populace. Spanning across 20 hectares of land, the village is thoughtfully divided into various zones, each catering to different aspects of tourism, including culinary experiences, recreational activities, educational tours, and sports recreation facilities.

Abstract

The community empowerment program at Keranggan Ecotourism Village identified several challenges, including low productivity, limited information access, and insufficient promotional facilities, resulting in a lack of awareness about the village's offerings. In response, a team comprising faculty and students from ESQ Business School conducted a tridharma activity focused on digital marketing, particularly for Keranggan Snack, a local home industry product aiming for expanded sales. This initiative aimed to leverage social media platforms to enhance product outreach and facilitate the promotion of Keranggan Ecotourism products to local SMEs, optimizing social media for broader audience reach. Additionally, the team facilitated the promotion of Keranggan Ecotourism products at various external events, aligning with Indonesia Emas 2045's vision. The primary objectives were to increase awareness and branding, assist local SMEs in boosting sales, and provide promotional platforms for Keranggan Ecotourism. This multifaceted approach aimed to address fundamental issues and propel Keranggan Ecotourism towards sustainable growth. Through education on digital marketing and active promotion, the program sought to overcome obstacles and elevate the visibility and economic viability of Keranggan Ecotourism Village beyond its immediate surroundings. By providing a platform for wider recognition and engagement, the initiative aimed to contribute to the village's economic development and environmental conservation efforts.

Abstract

This community service program titled "Building Entrepreneurial Spirit in Students Through Islamic Economic Literacy" was held on May 24, 2025, in Semarang under the Sharia Young Leader BSI Maslahat initiative. It aimed to empower underprivileged university students by integrating Islamic economic knowledge with personal motivation and spiritual development. The program applied a fun-learning approach to deliver modules on barakah (blessing), Islamic work ethics, fiqh muamalah, and Sharia-compliant contracts (akad), as well as motivational training based on the ESQ Matrix. A total of 51 participants underwent both pre- and post-tests, showing a significant knowledge increase from an average score of 62.39 to 84.58. Feedback indicated high satisfaction, with average scores above 5.7 out of 6 for both content and trainer performance. Participants appreciated the relevance and applicability of the material and suggested enhancements such as more interactive sessions and follow-up resources. The program successfully contributed to students’ understanding of ethical entrepreneurship and Islamic economic principles, supporting their role as future contributors to the Sharia economic ecosystem in Indonesia.
