This study discusses the acquittal verdict handed down by the Stabat District Court against Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin, former Regent of Langkat, in the case of the Crime of Human Trafficking (TPPO) as regulated in Law Number. 21 of 2007. The formulation of the problems raised in this study include: (1) What are the Legal Considerations for the Acquittal Verdict for the Crime of Human Trafficking? (2) What are the Judge's Considerations According to Law Number. 21 of 2007 for the Acquittal Verdict on the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking? This study uses a qualitative method with a normative legal and empirical legal approach which aims to understand and analyze how the law is applied in the acquittal verdict based on the Stabat District Court decision Number 555/Pid.Sus/2023/PN Stb. This study aims to analyze how the judge's considerations for the acquittal verdict according to Law Number. 21 of 2007. This decision has received a lot of criticism because it is considered not to reflect justice for victims who experience exploitation, physical and psychological violence, and economic losses. And the analysis was conducted on Decision No. 555/Pid.Sus/2023/PN Stb and compared it with similar cases. The results of the study indicate that the judge's consideration in acquitting the defendant was based on the lack of valid evidence and the failure to fulfill the elements of proof as regulated in Article 183 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This study recommends the need for reform in the system of evidence and protection of victims of TPPO so that substantive justice can be realized.
