Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) instructional model in improving students’ learning outcomes in the subject of Islamic Cultural History at MTs Terpadu Labbaik Lahat. The research employed a quasi-experimental design involving experimental and control classes. Data were collected through a multiple-choice test developed based on learning outcome indicators, which was validated and tested for reliability, yielding a moderate Cronbach’s alpha of 0.692. Normality tests indicated that the data were not normally distributed; hence, the Mann-Whitney U test was applied to analyze differences between the two groups. The results revealed a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group’s learning outcomes compared to the control group (p = 0.010). These findings align with prior research demonstrating the positive impact of the TAI model across various subjects and educational levels. The study concludes that the TAI instructional model is an effective strategy for enhancing student achievement, particularly in contexts requiring a balance of cooperative and individualized learning approaches. Limitations concerning sample size and research context suggest further studies with larger and more diverse populations to generalize the findings more broadly.
