Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of English translations of Surah Al-'Alaq featured on two prominent digital platforms: My.Surah and Alquran-Terjemahan. With the increasing reliance on online Quranic resources, translations serve as a crucial link between the Arabic text and a global audience. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research utilizes comparative textual analysis, emphasizing lexical choices, syntactic patterns, and theological nuances. Data were gathered from English translations of verses 1-19 on both platforms, and findings reveal notable differences: My.Surah employs a dynamic equivalence approach with simplified and communicative language, whereas Alquran-Terjemahan adopts formal equivalence, maintaining structural and lexical precision. These disparities impact reader perception, particularly concerning divine commands and theological interpretations. This research contributes to the field of Quran translation by illustrating how digital platform strategies influence meaning transmission. Further research is recommended to broaden the sample, incorporate reader perspectives, and explore the cultural reception of digital Quran translations.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance senior high school students’ listening comprehension and learning motivation through multimedia-based activities using English songs and a short film. The program was motivated by limited exposure to authentic listening input and the lack of integrated multimedia approaches in English classrooms. The activity was conducted in the form of a workshop involving 35 students through guided listening tasks using a pop song, a short film, and a planned Quizizz activity that could not be implemented due to time constraints. Data were collected through classroom observations, students’ worksheets, and informal feedback. The results indicate high levels of student engagement, enthusiasm, and collaborative interaction during the learning process. Worksheet analysis shows improvement in vocabulary recognition, understanding of key information, and interpretation of audiovisual cues. These findings suggest that multimedia-based listening instruction is effective in improving students’ motivation and listening comprehension and should be sustainably integrated into English language teaching practices.
