Abstract

Psychotherapy involving religious aspects is believed to have a positive impact on improving individual conditions. However, the implementation of zikir therapy can be done differently and will have different impacts. Griya Sehat Syafaat 99 clinic applies zikir therapy that collaborates religious aspects. This article was written with the aim of revealing a description of the implementation of zikir therapy techniques that will be analyzed from sufism, theology, and psychology perspectives. This study is a qualitative phenomenological study involving therapists at the Griya Sehat Syafaat 99 clinic as research respondents. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that zikir therapy was carried out in five stages, namely the preliminary stage, explanation, examination, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation of zikir psychotherapy from a Sufi perspective incorporates the concept of soul purification (tazkiyatun nafs) through the integration of sharia, haqiqah, and ma'rifah to elevate the levels of the nafs (self). Theologically, zikir guides individuals toward tawhid through dhikr al-qalb, which fosters awareness of Allah’s presence in every utterance, ultimately leading to nafs kamilah (the perfected self). Psychologically, zikir produces a calming effect that is physically manifested through increased alpha brainwave activity. The success of the function of zikir in the context of therapy can be supported by the therapist's mastery of psychological basis, Islamic faith, and Sufism comprehensively in the therapy process.

Abstract

The presence of philosophy in society is still widely questioned because it is considered capable of undermining beliefs, leading astray, and even having no benefits. The negative view of society towards philosophy is due to the religious and devout culture of the community. However, the development of education, especially at State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) and the establishment of Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy Department, it has given rise to philosophers within the student community at PTKIN. Moreover, the unique behavior of philosophy enthusiasts often attracts attention within the PTKIN student community, prompting researchers to examine the perceptions of philosophy enthusiasts regarding the dimension of religiosity in the midst of Indonesia's predominantly religious and devout cultural environment. This research employs a qualitative approach using Glock and Stark's theory on the dimensions of religiosity. The results show that the perceptions of philosophy activists at PTKIN regarding religiosity encompass three aspects. First, of aqidah, philosophy activists may become doubtful about their beliefs or, conversely, strengthen their faith, as well as cleanse impure religious doctrines. Second, in terms of worship, the non-performance of religious rituals is not solely caused by philosophy, but there are other factors at play. Third, morality or akhlak, philosophy has a positive impact on the behavior of philosophy activists.

Abstract

This study examines the revitalization of Aqidah learning by analyzing the management of teaching material development within the Aqidah course cluster at State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN). The Aqidah course cluster often receives limited attention and is considered one of the least developed disciplines in Islamic studies. The field is generally perceived as unappealing due to its focus on historical conflicts. Furthermore, the historical-textual approach often results in interpretations centered on conflict, potentially fostering sectarian fanaticism. This qualitative study utilized primary data collected from five PTKINs in Indonesia through analytical-descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews and documentation, both of which were analyzed using triangulation techniques. Findings indicate that the Aqidah course cluster significantly contributes to the Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy curricula. UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta allocates 20% of its total course offerings to the cluster, followed by UIN Walisongo Semarang (19.40%), UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten (18.42%), UIN Sunan Kudus (18.46%), and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta (12.73%). Managerial analysis of Aqidah teaching material development encompasses theoretical and conceptual aspects, incorporating local Indonesian theological insights, multidisciplinary integration, engagement with classical texts, and applied theology. These developments aim to enhance the relevance of Islamic theology by incorporating faith-based values into contemporary life. This study provides a managerial framework and empirical evidence that can serve as a foundation for revitalizing the Aqidah curriculum in PTKIN and introduces a contextual theological framework.
