Abstract

This study was motivated by the problem of low learning motivation among students in Social Studies (IPS), which has an impact on learning outcomes. The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between parenting patterns and learning motivation with IPS learning outcomes among elementary school students. This study was a quantitative study with an ex post facto design. The research subjects involved 148 sixth-grade students from several elementary schools in one cluster. Data were collected using questionnaires to measure parental parenting patterns and learning motivation, as well as documentation of students' social studies learning outcomes. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression techniques. The results of the study indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between parental parenting patterns and social studies learning outcomes, as well as between learning motivation and social studies learning outcomes. These findings suggest that parental parenting patterns and learning motivation are important factors contributing to students' academic achievement. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of parental involvement in creating a supportive learning environment and the need to strengthen learning motivation in the educational process.

Abstract

The low level of students' understanding of Social Studies material has a direct impact on their poor learning outcomes. One contributing factor is the limited use of engaging and contextual learning media to support the learning process. This study aims to examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the Card Match Circle (CMC) media assisted by 3D models in improving students' learning outcomes on the topic of Indonesian Kingdoms. This is a development research employing the ADDIE model, involving 2 material experts, 2 media experts, 1 teacher, and 14 fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected using validation questionnaires, response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed quantitatively using a correlated t-test. The results showed that the CMC media assisted by 3D models had a very high validity level, with validation scores of 0.98 from material experts and 0.93 from media experts. The practicality of the media based on teacher responses reached 97.5% and student responses 86.1%, both categorized as very practical. Furthermore, the correlated t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the media was effective in improving students' learning outcomes. The implication of this research highlights that integrating CMC media with 3D models offers an innovative alternative for active and interactive Social Studies learning to support students' competency achievement.

Abstract

The early reading ability of second-grade elementary school students is still relatively low. The lack of learning media becomes a major obstacle in developing students’ early reading skills. This study aims to develop digital interactive picture card media to improve early reading among second-grade elementary school students. The research employed the 4D model, which includes define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The subject of the study was the digital interactive picture card media, which was tested on 12 second-grade students. Data were collected through questionnaires, tests, observations, and interviews using instruments validated by two material experts, two media experts, and two teachers. Data were analyzed using both qualitative descriptive and quantitative approaches. The results, analyzed using the mean formula, showed media feasibility at 4.80, material feasibility at 4.95, and teacher practicality at 4.95. A t-test with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 indicated a significant effect of using digital interactive picture card media on students’ early reading skills. These findings imply that the developed media is not only feasible and practical but also capable of improving the quality of early reading instruction. Therefore, it can be concluded that digital interactive picture card media is effective for enhancing early reading ability in second-grade elementary school students.
