Abstract

This study analyzes and optimizes production systems in the Industry 4.0 context, examining the fundamental shift from centralized, push-based production models to decentralized, adaptive, pull-based approaches. The research employs a mixed-method approach combining comprehensive literature review and multiple case studies across manufacturing sectors. Findings reveal that integration of Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics enables real-time communication between production components, product personalization, and faster decision-making. Despite significant benefits in efficiency, flexibility, and competitiveness, implementation challenges persist, including high initial investment, employee resistance, technical expertise limitations, and integration complexity. Optimization approaches such as mixed-integer linear programming, digitally-integrated Lean Six Sigma, and digital twin simulations effectively enhance performance indicators including flexibility, reliability, and energy efficiency. The study concludes that successful production system transformation requires an integrated strategy encompassing process engineering, digital competency development, change management, and continuous evaluation to ensure sustainable optimization in the digital era

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the Influence of Leadership, Work Discipline, and Employee Work Environment at PT. Lima Dara Balikpapan. The type of research used is Quantitative research. The sampling technique in this study is saturated/census sampling with a sample of 50 employees of PT.Lima Dara Balikpapan. The data collection method was carried out by distributing questionnaires. This study uses SmartPLS in managing data. The results of this study show that leadership variables have a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction at PT. Lima Dara Balikpapan, the Work Discipline variable has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction at PT. Lima Dara Balikpapan, and the variables of the Work Environment have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction at PT. Lima Dara Balikpapan.

Abstract

This literature study examines the application of sustainable production systems in community empowerment, particularly focusing on industrial engineering implementation in local communities. Using a qualitative approach through document analysis, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews, the research identifies three critical findings. First, community-based production system models that integrate contextual analysis, participatory design, and continuous monitoring significantly improve productivity and income of local communities, as demonstrated in the weaving community in Sleman, Indonesia. Second, production engineering interventions that combine technological innovation and social empowerment generate sustainable economic impacts, including 11-13% increase in global agricultural commodity production and 43% reduction in worker idle time in the manufacturing sector. Third, an adaptive conceptual framework connecting local wisdom with digital technology strengthens community resilience, as seen in green construction practices based on local materials that reduce costs by up to 20% while improving quality of life. The study strengthens socio-technical systems theory by demonstrating that the success of sustainable production systems depends on synergies between technical, social, and institutional aspects.

Abstract

 An unsystematically arranged production facility layout can lead to inefficient production process flows, long material handling distances, and an increased potential for bottlenecks. These issues were identified at the UMKM Pabrik Roti Bakar Tamsis, prompting this study to focus on analyzing the existing production facility layout in terms of process flow and material movement distance, comparing the performance of the initial layout with the proposed layout, and calculating the material handling costs resulting from layout redesign. The objective of this study is to design a more efficient production facility layout that is feasible to implement under the spatial constraints of the UMKM. The method applied is Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), utilizing Operation Process Chart (OPC) analysis, Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), and the development of alternative layouts using Blocplan, which are subsequently evaluated through Arena simulation. The results indicate that the initial layout was not optimal due to the placement of workstations that did not follow the production sequence, resulting in relatively long material handling distances. The redesigned layout produced the most suitable alternative, capable of reducing material movement distances, improving inter-workstation relationships, decreasing waiting times, and minimizing bottleneck potential based on Arena simulation results, while maintaining acceptable material handling costs. Therefore, the proposed facility layout is proven to be more efficient and practical for enhancing the smoothness and efficiency of the production process at UMKM Pabrik Roti Bakar Tamsis. Tata letak fasilitas produksi yang tidak tersusun secara sistematis dapat menyebabkan alur proses produksi menjadi kurang efisien, jarak perpindahan material yang panjang, serta meningkatkan potensi terjadinya bottleneck. Permasalahan tersebut ditemukan pada UMKM Pabrik Roti Bakar Tamsis, sehingga penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menganalisis kondisi tata letak fasilitas produksi eksisting ditinjau dari alur proses dan jarak perpindahan material, membandingkan kinerja tata letak awal dengan tata letak usulan, serta menghitung biaya material handling akibat perancangan ulang tata letak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang tata letak fasilitas produksi yang lebih efisien dan layak diterapkan sesuai kondisi ruang produksi UMKM. Metode yang digunakan adalah Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) melalui analisis Operation Process Chart (OPC), Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), dan penyusunan alternatif tata letak menggunakan Blocplan, yang selanjutnya dievaluasi menggunakan simulasi Arena. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tata letak awal belum optimal karena penempatan stasiun kerja yang tidak mengikuti urutan proses produksi sehingga menghasilkan jarak perpindahan material yang relatif panjang. Perancangan ulang tata letak menghasilkan alternatif layout terbaik yang mampu menurunkan jarak perpindahan material, memperbaiki keterkaitan antar stasiun kerja, mengurangi waktu tunggu, serta menekan potensi bottleneck berdasarkan hasil simulasi Arena, dengan biaya material handling yang masih tergolong layak. Dengan demikian, tata letak fasilitas usulan terbukti lebih efisien dan realistis untuk diterapkan guna meningkatkan kelancaran dan efisiensi proses produksi pada UMKM Pabrik Roti Bakar Tamsis.
