Abstract

Vertical temperature and humidity profiles observation has often been studied in meteorology to analyze climate phenomena such as temperature inversion. This observation required a monitoring system that could be operated flexibly, ensured accurate data readings, and was capable of storing the collected data. This research was conducted to design a monitoring system using drone, which offered flexibility in three-dimensional space, and included a cloud-based data logger to store measurement data utilizing the Internet of Things system. The research employed testing methods for the sensors and components used in the system. The results show the system's performance specifications, including the characterization of the DHT22 sensor, testing of the NRF24L01 communication module, data logger, and mechanical system design. The design specifications indicate an average temperature measurement accuracy of 99% and 97.8% for humidity. The temperature reading precision is 1.00, while it is 0.99 for humidity. These results demonstrate that the system functions well.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an agricultural country that relies on the agricultural sector as a source of livelihood, is increasingly providing quality human resources to encourage progress in the agricultural sector. In an effort to advance the agricultural sector, various aspects need to be improved, one of which is the quality of even spraying of plant seeds. Therefore, the development of sprayers is a very relevant innovation. A sprayer is used by farmers to control pests and plant diseases. A sprayer is one of the agricultural equipment used by farmers to spray pesticides on plants to eradicate pests. The development of solar-powered sprayers has an impact on the environment and is a substitute for renewable energy. Then a test was carried out between the power produced by the solar panels and the power used by the pump. The first measurement was carried out and produced power on the solar panels with a total power of 1874.27 watts. The power used in the pump DC is 882.54 watts. Based on the power produced by the panel and the output of the sprayer, with a 20 wp solar panel in sunny conditions, you do not need a battery to drive the sprayer, but a battery is needed when the weather conditions are cloudy

Abstract

Health is an essential element that humans must consider. Examination of vital signs has two critical parameters in the diagnosis: blood pressure and body temperature. Blood pressure is a critical factor for the circulatory system. There are two types of blood pressure, namely systolic and diastolic. Body temperature is a measured body temperature expressed in degrees Celsius (℃). We developed an IoT-based blood pressure and body temperature monitoring device using MPX5100DP & DS18B20 sensors. The measurement carried out by comparing pressure and temperature data with standard tool, it was found that the percentage level of accuracy of the average pressure of 96.26% and temperature of 98.61%. Accuracy data were obtained for pressure measurement is 93.01% and for temperature measurement is 99.91%. The error on the device are found to be 2.96% systolic pressure, 3.29% diastolic pressure, and 0.63% body temperature. According to that, developed blood pressure and body temperature monitoring tool can work satisfiedly

Abstract

The problem that often occurs in fish farming is fish mortality caused by changes in pond water quality. One of the causes of changes in pond water quality is caused by changes in water pH levels, temperature, and turbidity of pond water. So far, measuring the quality of pond water has been done manually. It is necessary to design a monitoring system to provide warnings regarding the quality of fish pond water. The aim is to provide information if the water value is below the optimal value for fish development. This research is engineering research. The measurement techniques used are direct and indirect measurement. Direct measurement techniques are carried out by comparing data on pH, temperature, and turbidity levels between standard tools and measuring devices. The indirect measurement technique is done by analyzing the data. Based on the results of the Arduino-based tilapia pond water quality monitoring system, it consists of performance specifications for tools built with three sensors, namely pH, DS18B20, and turbidity sensors, and design specifications are divided into characterization, accuracy, precision, and tool testing.

Abstract

Electrical energy is a very important thing in life, but the main source at this time is still using limited materials. The solution to this problem requires renewable energy as an alternative source. This research discusses solutions with the use of solar cells. Harvesting of solar cell power is carried out using a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) based on Internet of Things (IoT). This research is classified as development research. The purpose of this research is the performance specification and design specifications. The data obtained in this study are comparisons of MPPT data and not using MPPT, and also accuracy and precision data of the instrument. Data collection was carried out on August 7, 2022 at 10.00 WIB - 16.00 WIB. Abstract

Pulsed Inductive Thruster is a type of electric propulsion system for spacecraft. It requires high voltages to operate, wherein a Marx impulse generator circuit is used. This circuit requires a switching component, which in the most basic form of such circuit is a spark gap switch. A spark gap switch undergoes rapid degradation whilst in use, which limits its lifespan before needing replacement; a hindrance for operations in space. To circumvent this problem, solid state switches might be used in the stead of spark gap switches. One such switch is a thyristor, whose feasibility was tested in this research. A four-stage basic form of the Marx impulse generator circuit had its spark gap switches replaced with thyristors, and a control unit fitted. Inputs at 2, 4, 6, and 8 volts were given, resulting in outputs at average 0.5, 1.4, 2.1, and 3.1 volts, with σ 0.095, 0.14, 0.1, and 0.1 respectively. These results do not indicate that thyristors might be feasible as an alternative to spark gap switches.

Abstract

Gardening is an agricultural sector that requires control and monitoring of work. However, the management and monitoring are still done manually. Therefore, we developed an internet of the things-based smart garden to monitor and control plants. This study aims to determine the design and performance of the system. This research is a type of engineering research. The measurement technique is to measure directly by comparing air humidity, air temperature, soil moisture, and soil temperature with the standard tool. The indirect measurement is by analyzing the value of accuracy and precision of the instrument. The system uses a DHT11 sensor measuring air temperature and humidity, a soil moisture sensor, and a DS18B20 sensor to measure soil temperature. The device has nearly 100% accuracy in all parameters, especially in the range of 93.53% to 98.61%. Precision for all parameters of the selected devices is also close to 100% in the range of 98.6% to 99.8%. Based on these results, the design of the smart garden tool can work well

Abstract

Fire is a disaster that can occur at any time, anywhere, without realizing it, causing material loss and even loss of life. Based on data from the Padang City Fire Department, there will be 198 fire cases in 2023 and 230 in 2022. Even though it has decreased, the risk of fire is still a serious threat. The main cause of fires is delays in detection and handling due to delays in information and inaccurate positioning. Therefore, this research aims to design a prototype system for early detection and home fire extinguishing based on IoT and GPS. This research is a type of engineering research; the system design includes an IR fire sensor for fire detection, an MQ-135 sensor for CO2 gas detection, and a NEO-7M GPS module for location tracking. This system uses an Arduino Uno microcontroller and an ESP32 NodeMCU for data processing and IoT connectivity. The research results show that the system performance specifications have good linearity sensor characteristics (R² close to 1), Blynk and WhatsApp application interfaces for monitoring and alarm notifications, as well as a 50x50x50 cm prototype equipped with a water pump and fan. Design specifications indicate a voltage measurement accuracy of 96.27% and a CO2 concentration of 97.56%. For voltage measurements, the precision is 99.81% and the CO2 concentration is 98.31%. The actuator operates at a predetermined set point and performs well. The early warning system test worked well with a time lag of 5–15 seconds.
