Abstract

Evaluation of the Availability of Archives Storage Facilities and Infrastructure at the Graduate School of Bogor Agricultural University. Facilities and infrastructure are essential archival resources. Law Number 43 of 2009 concerning Archives in Article 32, paragraph 1 states that archive creators and archive institutions are required to provide archival facilities and infrastructure following archival standards for archive management. This study aimed to evaluate the availability of facilities and infrastructure in archive management at the Postgraduate School, Bogor Agricultural University. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The results showed that: (1) the increase in archive volume is not proportional to the availability of archive storage facilities both in the central file as active archive storage and in the record center as a place to store inactive archives and static archives; (2) there is limited archive space in both the central file and record center so that the arrangement of archive storage facilities does not meet the minimum standards according to the Decree of the Head of ANRI No. 3 of 2000 concerning Minimum Standards for Inactive Archive Storage Buildings and Rooms.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of archiving raises new ethical challenges, such as algorithmic bias, loss of human context, and unclear accountability. Therefore, a systematic literature review is needed to understand how the ethics and professional values of archivists evolve in the face of AI-based digital transformation. This study aimed to determine how the ethics and professional values of archivists evolved in the era of artificial intelligence through an analysis of thematic patterns, ethical issues, and strategic responses that arose from human and AI interactions in archival practice. This study used the systematic literature review (SLR) method with reference to the PRISMA protocol. A total of 50 indexed and peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2018 and 2025 were analyzed, obtained from academic databases such as Scopus, SpringerLink, and Taylor & Francis. The analysis revealed five key domains: shifting roles and identities of archivists, reconfiguration of ethical principles in digital practice, dynamics of human–AI collaboration, reconstruction of professional values in an AI-based ecosystem, and strategic implications for strengthening the profession. The study concludes that archivists not only need to adapt to AI but also play an active role in guiding its implementation through ethical design, enhancing digital and ethical literacy, and updating professional codes of conduct. These efforts are essential to maintaining public trust, ensuring professional accountability, and ensuring the sustainability of the archivist’s role in an increasingly automated digital society.

Abstract

This article aims to formulate a human-centered policy direction for university archival management in response to the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation. Adopting a qualitative-descriptive approach and a review of 38 national and international scholarly articles, this study explores the structural, technological, and philosophical dimensions influencing academic archival governance. The findings reveal that university archives play a strategic role not only as administrative instruments but also as spaces for institutional reflection, social dialogue, and the cultivation of collective intelligence within academic communities. Concepts such as collective intelligence, semantic systems, and participatory curation provide the foundation for inclusive and sustainable policy alternatives. This paper proposes five strategic directions: digital curation training, implementation of AI-based metadata systems, adoption of open interoperability models, institutionalization of campus-based digital curation units, and development of ethical guidelines grounded in inclusion and the right to memory. Through this approach, university digital archives can evolve into adaptive, reflective, and humanistic epistemic infrastructures that strengthen institutional memory resilience in the Society 5.0 era.
