Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of human resources within society. The aspiration for high-quality education is a common dream shared by many. When implemented effectively, Total Quality Management (TQM) can significantly contribute to improving the performance of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren). This study aims to explore the process of program development, implementation, and the factors influencing the application of TQM. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was employed. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, involving subjects such as caregivers (pengasuh), teachers (asatidz), and administrators. The findings reveal that Al-Quraniyy Islamic Boarding School in Kotagajah, Central Lampung, designs its programs based on the fundamental principles of Total Quality Management. The implementation process, led by the pesantren leadership, involves all stakeholders contributing to the institution. The benefits of TQM application are evident in the improved performance of the teachers, which in turn positively affects the students’ achievements and the overall institutional performance. Two main categories of factors influence the implementation of TQM. First, supporting factors include the competence of the human resources (teachers and caregivers), adequate infrastructure, and strong trust and interest from the community, particularly parents. Second, inhibiting factors involve suboptimal human resources and a work culture among teachers and administrators that has not fully aligned with TQM principles.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Time Token type cooperative learning model on students' learning interest in the subject of Akidah Akhlak at MTs Darul Huda Bandar Lampung. This study uses a quantitative approach with a Posttest Only Control Group design, so as to be able to compare learning interest between the treated class (experiment) and the conventional class. The research instrument is a validated learning interest questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 25 through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and T tests to see statistical differences in results. The results showed that the Time Token learning model had a significant effect on increasing students' learning interest. The normality test showed that the data were normally distributed, while Levene's homogeneity test produced a significance value of 0.868, which indicated that the variance of the two groups was homogeneous. Based on the results of the Independent Samples T-Test, a t value of 2.156 was obtained with a degree of freedom (df) of 48 and a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.036, smaller than 0.05. These findings demonstrate a significant difference in average scores between the experimental and conventional classes. Thus, the Time Token model has proven more effective in increasing student learning interest than conventional learning.

Abstract

This study is driven by the low level of student learning interest in the Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) subject at Pondok Pesantren Darul Huffaz Pesawaran, particularly in the attention indicator, which appears weak under conventional instructional practices. Monotonous learning activities often cause students to become easily bored, lose focus, and engage minimally in classroom tasks. Such conditions underscore the urgency of implementing innovative instructional approaches capable of creating an engaging and interactive learning environment that consistently stimulates students’ attention. Accordingly, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of a Game-Based Learning model using a memory game in enhancing students’ learning interest, particularly in the aspect of attention. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. Two classes were designated as research samples: an experimental class receiving treatment through the memory game and a control class taught using conventional methods. Data on learning interest were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire, and subsequently analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent samples t-test.The findings show that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The t-test generated a significance value of 0.031 (< 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two groups. These results demonstrate that the Game-Based Learning model utilizing a memory game effectively enhances students’ learning interest in terms of attention, reflected in improved focus, active engagement, and concentration during SKI learning activities. In conclusion, the memory game–based Game-Based Learning model constitutes an effective and innovative instructional strategy for fostering students’ learning interest and is suitable for implementation in SKI learning within the pesantren context.
