Abstract

The melting point of medicine is an important factor to determine the purity of medicinal raw materials, thermal behavior is closely related to the melting process of that. This research focuses on developing an intelligent Smart Hotstage-Microscopy prototype to observe thermal behavior in the drug melting process. This prototype heats the drug evenly on a hot plate equipped with a polarizing microscope, thermocouple sensor, microcontroller, and LCD display to view the temperature reading results. The performance of the Smart Hotstage-Microscopy prototype was obtained by testing the thermocouple sensor, heating system, cooling system, and drug validation. In this paper the test results show that the thermocouple sensor test has an R2 value of 0.9983, which shows that the correlation between the actual temperature and the hot part temperature shows a significant correlation, which is 99.83%. Testing the heating system from an average temperature of 28.57°C to the average temperature of 298.59°C took an average time of 11.28 minutes. Meanwhile, testing the cooling system took 5.19 minutes to reduce the temperature from average 298.59°C to 33.379°C. This test proves that the prototype of Smart Hotstage-Microscopy can work well in melting drugs

Abstract

The results of interviews with Davao city teenagers, especially high school students at Sekolah Indonesia Davao (SID) showed that the knowledge about self-medication using natural ingredients as health drinks are still low. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to help improve the knowledge of Davao city teenagers in maintaining health through homemade tea products made from a combination of butterfly pea flowers and lemongrass stalks. The target partners for this PkM activity are Davao city teenagers who are also students from SID high school. The implementing partners are SID and the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao. The activity focuses on providing education and practice in processing a combination of butterfly pea flowers and lemongrass in the form of herbal tea. The number of target partner members who joined this activity are 30 people. The implementation of PkM for 1 month, starting from April up to May 2025. The community service team consists of 2 lecturers, assisted by 2 students. The stages of implementation of PkM are: preparation, training, and program evaluation. PkM was carried out on May 14-15, 2025 at SID Davao and went accordingly to plan. The results of the Community Service Program showed that the knowledge of target partners after receiving education in all of the components increased by an average of 34.8% with the lowest increase in knowledge of the main components that is butterfly pea flowers, increasing by 13% and the highest in the component of knowledge of the best tea bag packaging by 60%.
