Abstract

Religious sentiment-based conflicts pose a serious challenge to maintaining social cohesion in Indonesia, a country historically known for its religious and cultural diversity. Religious sentiments emerging in public spaces—whether through direct interactions or digital media—often trigger horizontal tensions, particularly in socially vulnerable areas. This study aims to examine conflict mitigation strategies based on religious sentiment in selected strategic urban and rural regions prone to latent conflict. Employing a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design, the research was conducted in five areas: Jakarta, Surakarta, Ambon, Poso, and Tasikmalaya. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with religious and community leaders, participatory observation, and analysis of local policy documents. The findings indicate that effective mitigation is strongly influenced by three key factors: the strength of interfaith social networks, the mediation capacity of local actors, and the presence of adaptive policies that respond to local dynamics. In urban areas, the roles of the Interfaith Harmony Forums (FKUB) and digital religious moderation campaigns were pivotal, whereas in rural areas, local wisdom-based approaches and community reconciliation were found to be more effective. This study recommends strengthening local actor capacities and integrating both structural and cultural approaches in the formulation of religious conflict mitigation policies.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk menarik minat baca anak jalanan di kota Parepare sebagai upaya mengurangi permasalahan buta aksara yang menyebabkan keterbatasan dalam berbagai aspek yang berujung ketertinggalan dan keterbelakangan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan bersama AKSARA sebagai mitra, PD IPMParepare dan EESA FKIP UMPAR. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatannya, AKSARA belum memiliki metode khusus serta media ajar yang dapat menarik minat anak-anak untuk belajar membaca. Selain itu, personel mereka pun kurang memadai dalam hal kuantitas untuk membimbing anak-anak membaca secara intensive. Berdasarkan permasalahan yang ada, tim pengabdian mengusulkan kegiatan Outdoor Game untuk menarik minat baca anak-anak jalanan yakni permainan yang dilakukan di luar ruangan. Bermain di luar ruangan merupakan kegiatan yang sangat bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan kognitif dan kepekaan sosial anak. Ada 4 jenis kegiatan outdoor game yang diterapkan yaitu menjodohkan, melabeli, menyusun kata/kalimat acak, dan memperagakan atau menebak. Selama proses kegiatan ini, dilakukan monitoring terhadap kemampuan membaca anak-anak serta evaluasi terhadap outdoor game ini sendiri. Dengan penerapan permainan ini, anak-anak menunjukkan peningkatan minat membacanya. Hal ini tampak dari beberapa indikator seperti datang lebih awal di tempat kegiatan, antusias mengikuti kegiatan belajar membaca, jumlah anak yang bergabung juga bertambah. Selain itu,  kemampuan anak dalam mengenal huruf, menyusun kata dan kalimat pun semakin baik.

Abstract

Islamic education holds a strategic position in shaping individuals' mindsets and character within an increasingly diverse society. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in addressing multiculturalism, particularly in the context of cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative approach through an in-depth literature review of relevant studies on Islamic education and multiculturalism. The findings indicate that Islamic education, with its principles of universality and inclusivity, serves as an effective instrument in instilling values of tolerance, respect for differences, and social harmony. However, its implementation still faces challenges, such as exclusivism and interpretative bias. In conclusion, Islamic education must continue to adapt to play a significant role in building a multicultural, inclusive, and harmonious society. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening the integration of multicultural values into the Islamic education curriculum.
