Abstract

This study investigated the impact of manpower planning on organizational performance in Anambra State Ministry of Environment, Awka. The specific objective of the study was to examine the effect of training on organizational effectiveness in the Anambra State Ministry of Environment. In line with the objectives of the study, one research questions and hypotheses were formulated. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised 320 senior staff of Anambra State Ministry of Environment, Awka. Primary and secondary sources of data was used. Questionnaire was employed as the instrument of data collection. Frequency tables and percentage were employed in analyzing the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using Chi-square statistical technique. The analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. The study confirmed that training improves organizational effectiveness in Anambra State Ministry of Environment, Awka. The study concludes that the importance of strategic manpower planning in achieving organizational goals cannot be overemphasized. By investing in employee development, the authority can improve performance, enhance service delivery, and achieve its objectives more efficiently. The study recommended amongst others that Anambra State Ministry of Environment should invest in regular training programs to enhance employee skills and organizational effectiveness.

Abstract

The study is to understand the impact of motivation and job satisfaction on employee performance of Central Bank of Nigeria. To achieve the objectives set, primary and secondary sources data were used. Primary data was collected both from managerial and non-managerial employees of the Bank. The total population of the Bank branch is 200 from which 120 samples was taken using Convenience sampling technique. Much of the data was collected from the managerial category since this category performs the core jobs of the Bank which is to conduct monetary policy by managing the money supply, setting interest rates, and overseeing the banking system to maintain financial stability within a country. Correlation technique was employed to find out the relationship between two variables. Regression technique also was used to find out to which extent one variable affect the other using coefficient results. Correlation results for salary is 0.589, Transport benefits 0.421, medical benefits 0.395, extra duty allowance 0.421, carrier achievement 0.562, promotion benefits 0.672 and correlation for recognition is 0.407 which reveal existence of positive relationship between motivation and employees’ performance and therefore implying that the increase in motivation will lead to increase in employees’ performance. This situation insists on increasing attention to employee motivation practice in order to improve employee performance. The findings suggest enhancement of current motivation package by incorporating both intrinsic such as promotion, recognition, support for carrier achievement and extrinsic motivation factors such as salary, extra duty allowance, transport allowance, medical benefits will help optimum utilization of human resources as well as increasing employees’ performance. Furthermore there is pressing need to develop organisation motivation policy that will help the Central Bank Of Nigeria, Awka Branch management properly in handling motivation function.

Abstract

This study examined the impact of Management by Objectives (MBO) on the non-financial dimensions of organizational performance in a commercial bank in Awka South LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria. The research adopted a descriptive survey design, targeting 50 employees across top, middle, and junior management levels. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive statistics, including mean and standard deviation, as well as Pearson correlation to test the relationship between MBO and non-financial performance indicators. The study achieved a 95% questionnaire return rate, with 100 out of 105 questionnaires returned, indicating adequate data for analysis. Respondents comprised 62% males and 38% females, with the majority aged 31–40 years (47%). Most respondents were married (58%) and predominantly held junior management positions (52%). Analysis of Management by Objectives (MBO) revealed positive impacts on non-financial performance, including boosting employee motivation (3.72), optimizing resources (3.95), setting customer-centric objectives (2.80), ensuring high-quality service delivery (3.88), and promoting innovation (3.84), with a grand mean of 3.64. Pearson correlation analysis showed a strong positive relationship between MBO and non-financial performance (r = 0.667, p = 0.62671), indicating that effective MBO implementation enhances operational outcomes beyond financial metrics. The study concludes that adopting MBO practices contributes significantly to holistic organizational performance by improving workforce productivity, service delivery, and innovation. Recommendations include continuous training on MBO practices, periodic review of objectives, and active employee participation to sustain improved non-financial outcomes
