Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of postcolonialism on the character and cultural identity maintained by the Palestinian people, as well as to find out the impact that occurs in Palestine which has been colonized by Israel for many years. In addition, this novel also mentions the impact that occurred in Palestine due to cultural domination and also how Palestinians maintain the identity crisis in the novel "Tasting the Sky" by Ibtisaam Barakat. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach where this research mostly describes postcolonialism in the novel "Tasting the Sky" by Ibtisaam Barakat. Researchers collected data analyzed from content analysis, which means analyzing literary works in the form of novels. Researchers used Ibtisaam Barakaat's novel "Tasting the Sky: A Palestinian Childhood which was analyzed in terms of postcolonial between israel and palestine." Researchers found 2 points in the novel, namely 1) that the main character in this novel felt fear of Israeli treatment and the main character could not resist because of the message from his parents, 2) how the resistance of other Palestinian communities faced Israel.
