Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing Project Based Learning (PBL) and Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in enhancing the descriptive writing skills of 5th-grade students. The research utilized a qualitative approach with observation, interviews, and analysis of students' written works. The data obtained will be analyzed using a thematic approach to identify emerging patterns regarding the impact of the use of PBL and TaRL on students' ability to write descriptive texts. The results show that both PBL and TaRL significantly improve student motivation and writing skills. PBL increased student engagement by involving them in real-life projects, making the learning process more relevant and meaningful. Meanwhile, TaRL tailored instruction to students' individual learning levels, allowing them to progress at their own pace and enhancing their confidence. The findings suggest that combining both approaches provides an inclusive and effective strategy for improving students' descriptive writing skills in elementary education

Abstract

Abstract:  This activity aims to increase the reading interest of students in phase B (grades 3 and 4) with the help of TALI (Target Literacy) media. TALI (Target Literacy) media is used to focus on students in that class who are generally not yet proficient in reading skills. The implementation of this activity begins with observation activities carried out by class teachers to find data on students who are not yet proficient in reading skills. Then continued with the preparation of teaching media. Continued with the implementation of activities. And closed with a reflection on the implementation of activities. In this community service, it resulted in an increase in enthusiasm and interest of students in reading activities as evidenced by the implementation of interview activities with each student who joined this activity.Abstrak: Kegiatan ini memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan minat baca peserta didik yang terdapat pada fase B (kelas 3 dan kelas 4) dengan bantuan media TALI (Target Literasi). Media TALI (Target Literasi) digunakan untuk memfokuskan kepada peserta didik pada kelas tersebut yang umumnya belum mahir dalam keterampilan membaca. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini diawali dengan kegiatan observasi yang dilakukan kepada guru kelas untuk menemukan data peserta didik yang belum mahir dalam keterampilan membaca. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penyusunan media ajar. Dilanjutkan dengan pelaksanaan kegiatan. Dan ditutup dengan adanya refleksi pelaksanaan kegiatan. Dalam pengabdian ini dihasilkan bahwa adanya peningkatan antusias dan minat peserta didik terhadap kegiatan membaca yang dibuktikan dengan pelaksanaan kegiatan wawancara pada masing-masing peserta didik yang tergabung dalam kegiatan ini.
