Abstract

To improve students' writing skills, they must master the type of essay based on their own personal experiences. While they are learning to write, the goal of advanced writing instruction in elementary school is for students to develop the ability to convey their thoughts and feelings, as well as to express their knowledge, ideas, and opinions. This literature review will employ qualitative research methods and will be based on a study or review of existing literature. Consequently, the aim of this research is to gather information about the methods elementary schools use to teach effective writing skills. One challenge with teaching writing is that the open-ended materials used by teachers are often not engaging. Additionally, publicly available creative writing resources are often insufficient for teachers. Many educators argue that writing is merely an assignment to be completed and graded. Developing writing skills in elementary school is a crucial step toward improving students' literacy. However, many teachers focus solely on students' written results without actively helping them develop their writing process. Advanced writing instruction fosters students' creativity and critical thinking by teaching various writing styles, such as narration, description, and exposition, which helps them articulate their ideas more systematically. Teachers play a vital role in supporting students to improve the quality of their writing through guidance and constructive feedback. Untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa, mereka harus menguasai jenis karangan yang didasarkan pada pengalaman pribadi mereka sendiri. Pembelajaran menulis lanjutan di sekolah dasar bertujuan untuk menulis lanjutan di sekolah dasar adalah untuk memperoleh informasi dan pemahaman mengenai metode serta strategi yang digunakan oleh guru sekolah dasar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menulis lanjutan siswabelajaran menulis lanjutan di sekolah dasar adalah agar siswa memiliki kemampuan tertulis menyampaikan pikiran dan perasaan mereka serta mengungkapkan pengetahuan, ide, dan pendapat mereka. Penelitianini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif didasarkan pada studi literatur atau kajian pustaka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang metode yang digunakan sekolah dasar untuk mengajar keterampilan menulis yang baik. Salah satu masalah dengan keterampilan menulis adalah bahan terbuka yang digunakan guru tidak menarik. Selain itu, sumber daya penulisan kreatif yang tersedia untuk umum tidak cukup untuk guru. Banyak guru berpendapat bahwa menulis hanyalah tugas yang harus dikumpulkan dan dinilai sendiri. Menulis lanjutan di sekolah dasar adalah langkah penting dalam meningkatkan keterampilan literasi siswa. Banyak guru yang hanya fokus pada hasil tulisan siswa tanpa membantu mereka menulis secara aktif. Pembelajaran menulis lanjutan meningkatkan kreativitas dan daya berpikir kritis siswa dengan mengajarkan berbagai jenis tulisan, seperti narasi, deskripsi, dan eksposisi, yang membantu mereka menyampaikan ide-ide mereka dengan lebih sistematis. Guru bertanggung jawab untuk membantu siswa memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kualitas tulisan mereka dengan memberikan bimbingan dan umpan balik.

Abstract

The reliance of elementary school teachers on conventional learning media and the limited use of interactive learning media in Science or Integrated Science (IPAS) learning form the background of this study. This research aimed to develop a Canva-based interactive visual learning media that is feasible and practical for IPAS learning and to describe its implementation in the classroom. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages, and was supported by a descriptive qualitative approach during the implementation stage. The media development process involved expert validation to assess feasibility in terms of content accuracy, visual appearance, interactivity, and language clarity. Practicality testing was conducted through teacher and student responses after the media was implemented in learning activities. The results indicated that the developed Canva-based interactive visual media achieved a very high level of feasibility and was categorized as highly practical. In addition, the use of this media supported active student engagement during the learning process. Therefore, the Canva-based interactive visual learning media is considered feasible and practical for use in elementary school IPAS learning.
