Abstract

This study aims to analyze the misconceptions in students in SMAN 1 Kota Serang on the material of Torque and Rotation. The research tested was a two-tier based question, consisting of 13 multiple choice questions with five answer options and one supporting reason for each answer. Data collection was carried out through Google Form media and distributed to 36 students of class XI IPA 9. The data obtained were students understood 13.9%, partially understood 11.1%, misunderstanding 22.2%, specific misunderstanding 33.3%, and did not understand 19.5%. This test is based on the result was tested there were students' misconceptions, namely the moment of force 5.55%, the relationship between force and moment of force 25%, the position of force to the axis 75%, the equation of rotation and GLBB 41.66%, Linear kinetic energy from frequency and radius 69.44%, The relationship between centripetal acceleration and radius 80.55%, and the kinetic energy of rolling objects 63.88%. The results of this test are analyzed into which parts of the students experience misconceptions, with these findings expected to be used as a basis for designing targeted learning interventions.

Abstract

Sustainability awareness is an understanding and concern for environmental, social, and economic issues that enable current needs to be met without sacrificing future generations. The aim of this study is to determine the profile of sustainability awareness of physics education students at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, especially on the theme of global warming. Sustainability awareness comprises three dimensions: knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. The sample in this study comprised 80 students, 64 females, and 16 males. The research instrument used in this study was a Likert-scale questionnaire with 1-4 options: disagree, agree, and strongly agree. The results showed that students' sustainability awareness was 3.09, in the high category, but their sustainability knowledge was still in the medium category. The results also showed that gender did not influence sustainability awareness. Students from the Tangerang district had greater sustainability awareness than those from other regions.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate a multi-tier diagnostic instrument designed to recognize high school students' misconceptions about the concepts of wave frequency and period. The instrument development process followed the 3D+1I methodology, which consists of the steps of Definition, Design, Development, and Implementation. The participants involved were 59 second-year Bantenese students (22 boys and 37 girls), with an average age of about 16 years. The designed instrument consisted of seven questions and was analyzed using the Rasch model to assess its validity and reliability. The analysis using Winstep 3.7.3 shows that the instrument has good psychometric properties: person reliability (0.81–0.85), item reliability (0.88), and Cronbach’s Alpha (0.84). The instrument also demonstrates a good spread of item difficulty (logit range: -0.65 to 0.73) and excellent discriminating power (PT-Measure Corr: 0.65–0.77). This instrument provides a practical tool for teachers to identify specific misconceptions in frequency and period concepts, enabling the design of targeted remedial instruction and improving the effectiveness of physics teaching.
