Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine how production costs factor into producer choices, particularly those pertaining to output volume, selling price estimation, and company growth strategies. The research examined micro and small business players in Kediri Regency, East Java, employing a descriptive quantitative technique. The findings demonstrate that the production cost structure, particularly the preponderance of variable costs, considerably affects the quantity of output and the margin for price adjustment. It has additionally been demonstrated that saving money encourages manufacturers to take risks and grow their companies. Moreover, management accounting-based cost tracking, waste reduction, and sourcing local raw materials are all cost management tactics that impact a company's strength and ability to compete. Producers' long-term strategic decision-making is therefore influenced by effective production cost management, which in turn affects operational sustainability.

Abstract

This article comprehensively examines the impact of inflation on the welfare of Indonesian society from a public economics perspective. High inflation has been proven to erode purchasing power, widen economic inequality, and worsen quality of life, especially for fixed- and low-income groups. Rising prices of basic necessities force households to sacrifice spending on education and health, increasing the risk of poverty and lowering the human development index. Inflation also creates economic uncertainty, hampers investment, and triggers social conflict due to public unrest. Empirical studies indicate that every 1% increase in inflation can reduce real purchasing power by up to 2.3% and increase the number of poor people. To mitigate these regressive effects, integration of monetary, fiscal, and adaptive social protection policies is required. The experience of Indonesia and other countries underscores the importance of inter-institutional synergy and evidence-based interventions to maintain price stability and equitable welfare. In conclusion, inflation control should be seen as a long-term investment in human development and social justice, not merely as a macroeconomic stability target.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of students, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and the general public regarding the role of the Merah Putih Cooperative in supporting and strengthening economic development. Cooperatives are recognized as important economic institutions that promote collective welfare, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs. This research adopts a descriptive survey method, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 respondents representing students, MSME actors, and community members. The data were analyzed using descriptive techniques to capture respondents’ views on the cooperative’s contribution to economic activities. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents perceive the Merah Putih Cooperative as playing a significant and strategic role in supporting the growth of micro-enterprises. The cooperative is considered effective in expanding business networks, facilitating cooperation among members, and contributing to improvements in members’ economic welfare. In addition, respondents believe that the cooperative helps strengthen local economic resilience by encouraging mutual support and shared economic interests. However, the study also reveals several challenges that need to be addressed. Respondents highlighted the need for improvements in service efficiency, organizational management, and access to capital to ensure that the cooperative’s benefits are distributed more evenly. Strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing transparency, and increasing financial accessibility are essential steps to optimize the role of the Merah Putih Cooperative in sustainable economic development.
