Abstract

This study examines the form of Sasak language interference in Arabic language practice by students of Madinatul Ulum NW Mumbang Islamic Boarding School. Interference occurs in various aspects of language, including phonology and syntax as well as reduplication. This phenomenon is caused by the influence of the mother tongue (Sasak language) and the lack of mastery of Arabic vocabulary of students, as well as minimal understanding of Arabic language structure. This study uses a qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach, the data were obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that phonological, syntactic and reduplication interference dominated students' errors in speaking Arabic. To minimize the negative impact of this interference, the Islamic boarding school implemented several intensive programs, such as muhadasah, memorizing the muhawaroh book, drilling uslub and watching Arabic films as well as learning Nahwu science. This finding confirms that although mother tongue interference (Sasak language) is a real challenge. However, the application of the right learning method and a supportive learning environment can significantly improve the Arabic language competence of students.

Abstract

In this study, we focus on Keer course of Abdul Qahir al-Jurjani in the themes of Farid Wajdi and consider the importance of these thoughts in recent studies on the Arabic language and literature. While Al-Jurjani established a rhetorical theory, focusing on links between structure and meaning of individual sentences, Farid Wajdi presented a linguistic method, ground on social and cultural approaches. This study employs a library research approach in a qualitative research model. The findings show Al-Jurjani made significant contributions to understanding the aesthetics of language through his theories on structure and meaning, which form the foundation of balaghah. At the same time, Farid Wajdi advocated a broader view of Arabic linguistics that brought together language and society in a new paradigmatic dialectology and sociolinguistics. The theoretization provided by the work of these two heralds exceedingly augmented the field of the Arabic language and literature along with forming methodological basis for the fields of Qur'anic exegesis, literary criticism.
