Abstract

West Sumatra holds significant potential for the development of historical tourism, with regions such as Bukittinggi, Padang, Payakumbuh, Batusangkar, Sawahlunto, Padang Panjang, Pariaman, and Bonjol showcasing a rich historical legacy from prehistoric times through the colonial era and the independence movement. This study employs a qualitative research approach combined with a descriptive method to explore the potential and marketing strategies of historical tourism in the area. The qualitative approach allows for a deep understanding of the region’s social and material realities, while the descriptive method systematically illustrates current events, conditions, and opportunities within the historical tourism sector. The research highlights the importance of local stories and narratives in enriching the visitor experience and differentiating West Sumatra as a historical tourism destination. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the critical role of collaboration between government bodies, local communities, and tourism practitioners in achieving sustainable tourism development. Integrating both visible and intangible resources, especially human capital, is crucial for crafting a compelling and resilient tourism strategy. Overall, West Sumatra’s rich historical assets present a substantial opportunity for economic growth and cultural preservation through thoughtfully developed historical tourism initiatives.

Abstract

Performers and Audiences in The Classical Bagurau Saluang Dendang Oral Literary Performance at The District of Lima KaumABSTRAKDalam perkembangannya pertunjukan sastra lisan bagurau saluang dendang dikolaborasikan dengan kesenian modern. Sehingga memunculkan berbagai genre seperti saluang dangdut, saluang remix, saluang orgen, dan saluang joget. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keterlibatan penampil dan khalayak dalam pertunjukan sastra lisan bagurau saluang dendang klasik. Data pada artikel ini dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara dan perekaman. Untuk pembahasannya digunakan strategi pembacaan dekonstruksi Derida. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa penampil dan khalayak berkolaborasi dalam mengemas pertunjukan sastra lisan bagurau saluang dendang klasik. Bentuk penampil dalam pertunjukan ini terdiri dari beberapa unsur yaitu;  juru mudi, tukang dendang, dan tukang saluang. Ketiganya memiliki peran yang sama dalam menciptakan teks dan membangun suasana pertunjukan. Sementara, khalayak merupakan masyarakat penikmat atau penonton sastra lisan bagurau yang juga memiliki peran dalam membangun suasana dan menciptakan teks dalam pertunjukan sastra lisan bagurau saluang dendang klasik.Kata kunci: Sastra Lisan, Bagurau, Saluang Dendang Klasik, Penampil, Khalayak, DekonstruksiABSTRACTIn its development, the performance of the Bagurau Saluang Dendang oral literature is collaborated with modern art. It leads to various genres such as Saluang Dangdut, Saluang Remix, Saluang Orgen, and Saluang Joget. It aims to describe the involvement of performers and spectators in the classical performance of bagurau saluang dendang oral literature. It collected data with interview and recording methods. For the discussion, Derida's deconstruction reading strategy is used. It concludes that actors and audiences are experts in packaging the classical performances of bagurau saluang dendang oral literature. The form of performers in this show consists of several elements, namely; helmsman, chanter, and saluang handyman. All three have the same role in creating the text and building the atmosphere of the show. While the audience is the connoisseurs or spectators of bagurau oral literature who also play a role in building the atmosphere and creating texts in the classical Bagurau Saluang Dendang oral literature performance.Keyword: Oral Literary, Bagurau Saluang Dendang Klasik,  Performers, Audiences, Deconstruction

Abstract

Village tourism is a strategic sector in promoting community economic growth through the utilization of natural potential and local wisdom. Nagari Lawang Mandahiling, Salimpaung District, Tanah Datar Regency, has natural tourism potential in the form of Puncak Pela, which offers hilly landscapes with views of Mount Marapi and Mount Sago. However, this potential has not been optimally managed due to limited facilities, infrastructure, accessibility, and low community awareness of tourism development. This community service activity aims to support the development of the Puncak Pela tourist attraction through improving accessibility, organizing trekking routes, and strengthening the identity of the tourism area based on community participation. The methods used include field observation, participatory approaches, SWOT analysis, and the development of tourism facilities and infrastructure. The results indicate improvements in accessibility, safety, and tourist attractiveness through the opening and cleaning of trekking routes, installation of directional signboards, and the inauguration of the trekking route. Thus, Puncak Pela has the potential to be developed as a leading nature-based tourism destination that supports tourism development and enhances the local economy of Nagari Lawang Mandahiling.
