Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between teacher pedagogical competence and student learning outcomes in physics subjects at SMP Negeri 4 Ternate City. This study uses a quantitative approach. The data collection technique uses a random sampling technique with a correlational research design, with a population of 240. The sample in this study was 22 students of class VIII-5 SMP Negeri 4 Ternate City. Data were obtained using the Test technique for variable Y and non-test (questionnaire) for variable X. The research instrument in the form of data in the form of checklist guidelines, questionnaires for students that have been tested for validity and reliability, documentation. Data analysis uses normality tests, homogeneity tests, linearity tests, hypothesis tests consisting of one independent variable and one dependent variable. The results of this study obtained a questionnaire used to collect data validated with the product Moment correlation formula obtained 11 valid items of the tested statements. The reliability test of the questionnaire was also carried out on the 11 items of the teacher's professionalism statement using the Alpha method so that a reliability coefficient of 0.93 was obtained. teacher pedagogical competence data obtained the highest score of 55 and the lowest score of 45 with an average of 51.33, a variance of 15.25, and a standard deviation score of 3.90, and student learning outcome data obtained the highest score of 47 and the lowest score of 28 with an average of 17.72, a variance of 484.7, and a standard deviation score of 22.02. The statistical results obtained the product moment correlation between teacher professionalism and learning outcomes obtained 3.79 1.895 means Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, meaning that there is a relationship between teacher pedagogical competence and student learning outcomes, in other words between teacher pedagogical competence and learning outcomes there is a very strong correlation, this means that teacher pedagogical competence greatly influences student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Rapid advances in digital technology have significantly transformed higher education, particularly in how students construct understanding of abstract scientific concepts. Among recent innovations, Augmented Reality (AR) has gained prominence for its ability to present three-dimensional visualizations of physical phenomena that are otherwise invisible in real-world observation. This study investigates the effect of AR-based learning media on students’ learning outcomes in the Environmental Physics course. A quantitative pre-experimental design of the one-group pretest–posttest type was implemented with 15 Physics Education students who participated in learning activities utilizing AR media. Data on learning performance were collected through pre- and post-tests, analyzed for normality, and further examined using a paired-sample t-test to determine the significance of differences in learning outcomes. The findings revealed an increase in the mean learning score from 55.56 (pretest) to 72.33 (posttest), with a significance value of p = 0.000 < 0.05, confirming a statistically meaningful improvement after the intervention. The results indicate that AR effectively enhances students’ conceptual comprehension, promotes learning motivation, stimulates active engagement, and strengthens critical-thinking ability during the learning process. In conclusion, Augmented Reality represents an innovative and effective pedagogical medium for improving both the quality of instruction and conceptual mastery, particularly in courses demanding high levels of abstract visualization such as Environmental Physics. Future research should involve larger and more diverse samples and explore AR integration across other scientific disciplines to obtain broader empirical insights.

Abstract

Students’ learning outcomes in the topic of heat and its changes are often limited by difficulties in understanding and analyzing thermal concepts. This study aims to analyze students’ learning outcomes based on four cognitive indicators: remembering (C1), understanding (C2), applying (C3), and analyzing (C4), as well as to identify individual student performance through two rounds of testing. This research used a descriptive quantitative approach involving 30 seventh-grade students, with six students selected as subjects for deeper analysis. Data were obtained through written tests administered twice and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that students achieved very good performance in the remembering indicator (95%) and good to very good performance in the understanding (75%) and applying indicators (80%). However, performance in the analyzing indicator remained low (60%), indicating that students’ higher-order cognitive skills are not yet adequately developed. Individual analysis further showed that most students fell into the fair category. The novelty of this study lies in the combined use of indicator-based and individual learning outcome analyses with repeated measurements, allowing a clearer picture of students’ cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Overall, these findings highlight the need for learning strategies that promote analytical thinking to improve student outcomes in the topic of heat and its changes.
