Abstract

This study intends to analiyze and identify the role of prinscipals in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) in Indonesia. The reseach is significant in providing insights for school principals and polymakers to determine appropriate strategies for improving the quality of education. A qualitative reseach method with a systematic literature review approach was employed, with data collected through an analysis of 19 articles relevant to the role of principals in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri in Indonesia. The findings reveal that the principal’s roles as a motivator, innovator, manager, and supervisor positively enhance education quality, despite certain challenges and obstacles. School principals need to strengthen school-based management and academic supervision to improve the quality of learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri in Indonesia

Abstract

Education is a fundamental foundation for developing quality human resources. However, Vocational High Schools (SMKs) face various challenges, including low student academic achievement, a lack of teacher motivation, and limited facilities and infrastructure. The principal plays a central role in improving academic quality through the implementation of effective strategies to produce competent and job-ready graduates. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing interviews, observations, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that the strategies employed by the principal of SMKS Plus Al-Ma’arif Kota Malang to enhance academic quality include teacher development, collaborative benchmarking programs, and community involvement. These findings can serve as a model for other vocational schools in efforts to improve the quality of vocational education. Furthermore, this study provides recommendations for policymakers in formulating more effective programs to enhance vocational education quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school principals in improving teacher professionalism in Indonesia through a systematic review method. The data was gathered from various indexed sources, including Google Scholar, Publish or Perish indexed by PubMed, Crossref, and Semantic Scholar, using keywords such as "The Role of School Principal" and "Teacher Professionalism." A total of 64 relevant articles were identified, with 15 meeting the inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that principals enhance teacher professionalism by implementing various strategies, such as academic supervision, professional development programs, mentoring, and a supportive work environment. Principals act as leaders, motivators, supervisors, and facilitators, guiding teachers to enhance their competencies through training, workshops, and continuous professional development. The study concludes that strengthening the leadership capacity of school principals is essential to promoting teacher professionalism and improving educational outcomes in Indonesia.
