Abstract

This research is motivated by observations of students at SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang class 5B which are known that many students still get low learning outcomes with the KKTP stipulation of 80. The form of this research is classroom action research conducted at SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang in semester of the 2024/2025 academic year and takes from February to April 2025. The subjects of this study were 28 students of class 5B, consisting of 15 male and 13 female students. The purpose of this study is to improve the learning outcomes of IPAS in class 5B students of SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang by utilizing puzzle media based on the culturally responsive teaching approach. The results of the study show that using the culturally responsive teaching approach and puzzle media has been proven to significantly improve student learning outcomes and is effective of being recommended as an alternative to active and contextual learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics students in grade IV of SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang through the application of Baamboozle interactive media combined with the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) learning model. The background of this research is based on the low mathematics learning outcomes, as shown by the average student score of 66.07 which is still below the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) which is 75. This study uses the Kemmis and McTaggart model Class Action Research (PTK) method which is carried out in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The learning outcome data was obtained through an evaluation test at the end of each cycle and was analyzed in a quantitative descriptive manner by calculating the average score and percentage of learning completeness. The results showed that the average student score increased from 66.07 in the pre-cycle to 73.57 with 60.71% learning completeness in the first cycle, and increased again to 80.35 with 85.71% learning completeness in the second cycle. This finding proves that the application of Baamboozle interactive media combined with the Numbered Heads Together model is effective in improving the mathematics learning outcomes of grade IV students of SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang. The implications of this study show that the integration of interactive digital media with cooperative learning models can be an alternative to innovative, effective, and fun learning strategies in elementary schools.

Abstract

Mathematics remains a challenge for most children. The difficulty in understanding abstract concepts and applying them in practice often results in declining student learning outcomes, especially in subjects that require conceptual understanding and unit conversion, such as volume measurement. This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes among fourth-grade elementary school students through the application of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) strategy. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, which consisted of two cycles. Each cycle comprised four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The participants were 28 students from SDN Tanjungrejo 2 Malang. The findings showed that the proportion of students achieving the success criteria increased from 43% to 89%, with an average score of 86. The application of the TaRL strategy, supported by Wordwall media, proved effective in improving students’ mathematics learning outcomes.
