Abstract

Prolonged sitting habits among university students increase the risk of postural abnormalities such as forward head posture and rounded shoulders, which may lead to low back pain and reduced quality of life. The lack of postural awareness and limited preventive interventions on campuses are pressing issues to address. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of an educational and corrective exercise program consisting of back strengthening and mobility exercises on improving student posture. This study applied a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 30 students with ≥4 hours/day of sitting participated in a 4-week intervention program (3 sessions per week). Measured parameters included Forward Head Posture (FHP), Rounded Shoulder Posture (RSP), and the Postural Awareness Scale (PAS). Data were analyzed using paired t-tests. The results indicated significant reductions in FHP (mean decrease of 2.30 cm) and RSP (mean decrease of 7.2°), along with a significant increase in PAS scores (mean increase of 15.49 points) with p < 0.01. The program effectively improved both postural alignment and awareness. A combination of postural education and corrective exercises is effective in improving student posture. This intervention is recommended as a preventive and promotive approach to musculoskeletal health in university settings.

Abstract

Ankle injuries are among the most common injuries experienced by adolescent soccer players, often caused by poor stability and neuromuscular control. Ankle instability not only affects athletic performance but also increases the risk of recurrent injuries. One effective preventive and rehabilitative approach is dynamic balance training, such as the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT). This study aimed to analyze the effect of education and SEBT exercises on ankle stability enhancement in U-15 soccer players at SSB Mandiri Medan. This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach, involving 20 male participants aged 13–15 years. The SEBT training program was conducted for four weeks, with a frequency of three sessions per week. Ankle stability was measured using reach distances in all eight directions of SEBT and the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test to compare pre- and post-intervention results. The findings showed a significant improvement in SEBT reach scores (p < 0.05) and increased CAIT scores, indicating enhanced functional ankle stability. These results suggest that structured education and SEBT training can serve as an effective strategy for injury prevention and performance enhancement in young soccer athletes.

Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP)Congenital malformasi: a condition of weakness of the extremities which results in distruption of the child's growth and development. The cause of cerebral palsy is the result of brain damage or brain defects which most often occur when a person is still in the womb or after birth, although there are several cases that experience CP is not congenital. This condition of congenital malformation has an unstable movement coordination system.floppiness or stiffness of the limbs, the emergence of abnormal movement ,poor balance,or several combination of the signs that have been mentioned. Congenital malformation affects the motor and function capacity system. The aim of this is to find out that there is a stretching effec and strengthening exercise on gross motor skills in spastic type cerebral palsy. The type of research uses a quasi experiment with pre and post test design. The research sample is 7 children with spastic type cerebral palsy at Murni Teguh Hospital in Medan who meet the research criteria. The level of spasticity was measured by observation using the Mas method (Muscle Ashwort scale) with repeated measurements, before and after treatment In research, data analysis this study used is T.Test (t test).

Abstract

Background: Muscle spasm is a frequent musculoskeletal problem that can disrupt daily activities, reduce productivity, and decrease quality of life. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) contains bioactive compounds with thermogenic properties that can enhance blood circulation and muscle relaxation, while red betel leaf (Piper crocatum) possesses analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects that may help alleviate musculoskeletal pain. In physiotherapy practice, alternative therapies such as herbal oil rubs and manual techniques like Myofascial Release (MFR) are gaining popularity due to their non-invasive and holistic approach. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of combining red ginger and red betel leaf oil rub with MFR in reducing muscle spasm. Methods: This was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test–post-test design. A total of 10 participants (aged 35–55 years; both male and female) with muscle spasm were recruited. Intervention consisted of topical application of red ginger and red betel leaf oil followed by MFR therapy for five consecutive days. Pain intensity was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test. Results: There was a significant decrease in VAS scores from a mean of 4.4 pre-treatment to 4.0 post-treatment. Statistical analysis revealed a highly significant difference (p < 0.000000001), indicating that the combined intervention effectively reduced muscle spasm.

Abstract

Children are the dream of the family besides that every family also expects their children to grow optimally (physically, mentally, cognitively and socially healthy) can be proud of and useful for the nation and the nation. As an asset of the nation, children must receive attention from the womb until they become adults.Growth and development is a continuous process that occurs starting from conception and continues until adulthood.. In this study the authors used a quasi experiment with pre and post test design techniques, involving several children with delayed development as samples and techniques measured through the GMFM (Gross Motor Function Measurrement) , which has 5 stages / levels in ability and impairment limitation. The objectives of this activity are:. The objectives of this activity are: to achieve child growth and development in physical and functional capacity according to age, to improve the health status of children in terms of physical and functional capacity, to prevent more severe physical disability of children, to catch up with child growth and development according to the age of development of physical and functional capacity of children, to study factors related to child growth and development
