Abstract

Toba Regency is one of the leading of local and foreign tourists destinations in North Sumatra Province. Through good management by the government, the private sector, and the community, this potential can be optimized to improve community welfare. This study aims to measure and evaluate the level of satisfaction of the tourists with the quality of life in various fields of education, tourism, health, agriculture, socio-culture-art, and religion. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 randomly selected respondents in the Toba region. The results show that improving the quality of education through curriculum development, increasing the capacity of teachers, and providing adequate facilities is very important. Community-based tourism development and infrastructure improvements can boost the local economy. In the health sector, improving access and quality of health services through community-based programs is necessary. Agricultural productivity can be improved through the application of modern technology and crop diversification. In addition, the preservation of local culture and arts as well as improved religious facilities and programs can strengthen social cohesion and the spiritual well-being of the community. This research is expected to provide a comprehensive picture of the quality of life of the Toba people and form the basis for formulating more effective policies to improve the quality of life of the community

Abstract

Abstrak Kelompok masyarakat Daerah Aliran Sungai Deli (DAS) di kawasan Jl.Palang Merah Medan, Sumatera Utara merupakan mitra kegiatan Mahasiswa Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program Modul Nusantara Kelompok 4 Universitas Sumatera Utara dan Education Foundation. Kegiatan Kontribusi Sosial (KS) dilaksanakan pada tanggal 2 Juni 2024 bertujuan mensosialisasikan dan mengedukasi masyarakat sekitar DAS Deli agar tanggap dan dapat melakukan mitigasi bencana banjir. Mahasiswa PMN KS 4 USU menyerahkan bantuan perlatan mitigasi bencana banjir, yaitu 2 pasang jaket pelampung, tali, peluit, dan kit P3K. Selanjutnya proses pelatihan mitigasi bencana banjir dilakukan pada 20 orang, terdiri dari 14 orang anak-anak, berusia 10-16 tahun, dan 6 orang dewasa. Pelaksanaan KS dilakukan menggunakan metode  kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, kuisoner, wawancara, pelatihan fisik, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari sosialisasi ini memperlihatkan kesadaran anak-anak dan masyarakat DAS Deli tentang pentingnya pengetahuan, aksi nyata, dan tanggap saat penyelamatan diri dari banjir mendapat respon yang baik dan mendukung kerjasama saat pelatihan berlangsung di Sungai Deli. Kata kunci: banjir; edukasi; masyarakat; DAS Deli; Sumatera Utara. Abstract The Deli River Basin (DAS) community group in the Jl. Palang Merah Medan area, North Sumatra is a partner in the Independent Campus Learning (MBKM) Student Activity of the Nusantara Module Program Group 4 of the University of North Sumatra and the Education Foundation. The Social Contribution (KS) activity was carried out on June 2, 2024 with the aim of socializing and educating the community around the Deli DAS to be responsive and able to mitigate flood disasters. PMN KS 4 USU students handed over assistance in the form of flood disaster mitigation equipment, namely 2 pairs of life jackets, ropes, whistles, and first aid kits. Furthermore, the flood disaster mitigation training process was carried out on 20 people, consisting of 14 children, aged 10-16 years, and 6 adults. The implementation of KS is carried out using descriptive qualitative methods through observation, questionnaires, interviews, physical training, and evaluation. The results of this socialization show the awareness of children and the Deli River Basin community about the importance of knowledge, real action and responsiveness when saving themselves from floods received a good response and supported cooperation during the training on the Deli River. Keywords: flood; education; community; Deli river basin; north sumatra
