Abstract

Tempe adalah produk lokal, makanan Soja sp berprotein tinggi. Tempe yang dihasilkan dapat diolah menjadi aneka makanan, seperti kerupuk, keripik, stik, bolu, tempe bacem, dan mendoan. Tingginya permintaan pasar, keterbatasan alat, terbatasnya inovasi dalam pengolahan tempe dan pemasaran tidak maksimal menjadi alasan dilaksanakan pengabdian oleh Lembaga Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat, Universitas Sumatera Utara di di Pasar 1 Tanjung Sari, Medan. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk memberi solusi kepada mitra usaha dalam pengolahan dan pembuatan tempe; meningkatkan kemampuan dan kreatifitas wirausahawan muda (mahasiswa) untuk mengelola keterampilan dan managerial. Dalam mendukung tercapainya target, solusi yang tim lakukan adalah membuat sebuah mesin pemecah kedelai, alat pemotong keripik, membantu desain kemasan, dan pemasaran dengan variasi harga tempe mendoan, keripik tempe, tempe rasa teh hijau, tempe cabe merah, dan tempe coklat (Rp 2.000-Rp 20.000). Diharapkan Rumah Tempe USU akan memberi kontribusi peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan dan pendapatan bagi mitra dan masyarakat di sekitar kampus USU.

Abstract

With the holding of training on the use of used goods into a planting container for vegetable crops in the two schools (SD Model Al Azhar Medan and SD Namira), it is expected to foster creative and innovative work in science and technology capable of producing a system, design, model of goods in the form of pouring ideas or creative ideas which is original, visionary and implementative to find solutions to problems that are relevant to the environmental problems associated with agriculture. This training was carried out for 5 months (July-November 2019) through several stages, starting from problem identification, location initiation, training in the provision of used goods and vegetable cultivation. Then do the practice and guidance in the field, followed by information dissemination and publicity in mass media, making you tubes from the creation of used goods from these elementary school students. Through this training, there was an increase in the knowledge and understanding of students about the processing of used goods from bottles, wood, cans, plastics, shoes, pants, oil packaging that were converted into planting containers. Then the creations are placed as a corner of the school garden. Synergy of the University of Sumatera Utara in developing superior knowledge that is beneficial has the full support of the community, especially students of SD Model Al Azhar Medan and SD Namira Medan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi peran komunikasi petani dan beribadah dalam meningkatkan imunitas tubuh melalui metode kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan menggunakan sample  random sampling dengan kuisoner kepada 30 petani padi di Langkat, Sumatera Utara dan Meulaboh, Aceh Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebesar 22 orang petani berkelamin pria dengan 8 orang petani berkelamin wanita. Sebanyak 73.33% petani mempersiapkan diri dan peralatan (cangkul dan bekal makanan), selanjutnya 20% petani membersihkan rumah dan halaman serta 6.66% malakukan mandi, berpakaian dan bermasker. Dari data menunjukkan 90% beraktivitas ibadah khusus, seperti menjaga wudhu, sholat dhuha dan berdoa sebelum berangkat ke lahan, hanya 10% beribadah saat istirahat di ladang. Selanjutnya komunikasi petani dengan tenaga penyuluh dilakukan intensif dan berkelanjutan (83.33%) dan 16.66% menyatakan jika ada waktu luang dan masalah di lahan maka bertemu dengan  penyuluh pertanian. Petani secara umum, 100% petani membawa bekal makanan dari rumah yang telah disiapkan seperti nasi, sayuran, lauk dan buah, manakala aktivitas transakasi jual beli di ladang/pasar dilakukan dengan berkomunikasi, bermasker, jaga jarak dua meter antara petani dan penyuluh pertanian sebesar 86.66%, hanya 13.33% tidak menggunakan masker atau berbicara sangat dekat tanpa jarak. Dari interaksi saat menggumpulkan kuisoner, petani menyatakan istirahat-tidur yang cukup, berkomunikasi sesuai protokol kesehatan, berwudhu dan beribadah tepat waktu meningkatkan imunitas tubuh petani sehingga tercapai kualitas hidup yang optimal di masa New Normal. Peran para petani sebagai penyedia bahan pangan perlu didukung dan didampingi oleh akademisi, penyuluh pertanian, instansi terkait dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan di wilayah Sumatera Utara dan Aceh Barat.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of adoption of smallholders and the factors that have a significant effect on the adoption of rubber planters in applying formic acid as a latex coagulant in Pemali District, Bangka Regency. This type of research is descriptive quantitative. The data collection methods are observation and interviews using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability, while the data analysis method uses a Likert scale and Logistics Regression Analysis. The variables used in this study are age, education, land area, characteristics of innovation, the role of extension workers, communication media, facilities and infrastructure, and the role of farmer groups. The results of the study showed that the adoption rate of rubber planters for the use of formic acid as a latex coagulant in Pemali District, Bangka Regency was in the low category with a percentage of 22.95%. The results of the Logistics Regression Analysis showed that there was a significant influence between the variables of innovation characteristics, the role of extension workers, and infrastructure on the adoption opportunities for the use of formic acid as a latex coagulant in Pemali District, Bangka Regency.

Abstract

The refugia plant is one of the flowers that can be used as a shelter for natural enemies and as a feed sources for insects.  The purpose of this study was to compare the use of refugia and without refugia plants in controlling environmentally friendly red rice pests in Soporaru Hamlet, Sigotom JuluVilalge, Pangaribuan District, North of Tapanuli Regency, North of Sumatra Province. This study uses a purposive sampling method with 3 types of traps, namely: yellow traps, fall traps and net traps. The samples was identified in the Plant Disease Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra in July 2020  until February 2021.  The results showed that 8 orders of refugia were caught on land using refugia, 23 families, and 1,952 individuals, while on land without refugia there were 8 orders, 22 families and 1,807 individuals.  On land using refugia (r) compared to land without refugia (k) it is known that the Species Richness Index (R) (Rr=2.9 and Rk=2.8), Diversity Index (H) (Hr=2.67 and Hk=  2.19), and Evenness Index (E) (Er=0.85 and Ek=0.71).  Function status identified on land using refugia and without refugia as many as 5 species, namely herbivores, pollinators, predators, parasitoids and scavengers.

Abstract

Keanekaragaman Serangga di Pertanaman Kecombrang (Etlingera elatior Jack) pada Zona Penyangga Kawasan Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser. Kecombrang merupakan tanaman rempah - rempah asli Indonesia. Sampai saat ini belum ada penelitian keanekaragaman serangga pada tanaman kecombrang dan juga belum terdeteksinya status peran serangga pada tanaman kecombrang. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai keanekaragaman serangga di pertanaman kecombrang pola tanam monokultur dan polikultur di zona penyangga Kawasan Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan metode survei dengan 4 kali pengamatan di lapangan dan identifikasi serangga dilakukan sampai tingkat famili. Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 jenis perangkap serangga (perangkap jaring, perangkap jatuh, perangkap kuning, perangkap lampu). Hasil identifikasi serangga yang tertangkap pada lahan kecombrang monokultur yaitu 917 ekor dengan 7 ordo dan 37 famili sedangkan pada lahan kecombrang polikultur terdapat 1595 ekor dengan 7 ordo dan 42 famili. Identifikasi nilai keanekaragaman pada lahan monokultur menunjukkan nilai 2,51, nilai kekayaan margalef 5,27 dan indeks kemerataan 0,69 sementara pada lahan polikultur nilai keanekaragaman sebesar 2,52, nilai kekayaan Margalef 5,55 dan indeks kemerataan 0,67. Indeks kemerataan pada lahan monokultur lebih tinggi atau berbanding terbalik dari indeks keanekaragaman dan indeks kekayaan pada kedua jenis lahan, hal tersebut menunjukkan kedua lahan termasuk ke dalam kategori kemerataan tinggi Analisis nilai kesamaan dua lahan menunjukkan angka 0,67 yang termasuk ke dalam kategori tinggi pada kesamaan spesies. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa ekosistem serangga di zona penyangga kawasan taman nasional gunung leuser masih alami.

Abstract

Locally specific Natabo brown rice was identified in Pangaribuan Subdistrict, North Tapanuli, where the attack of stem borer, brown planthoppers, leafhoppers and stink bugs affects rice productivity. The alternative step to control pests in a biological used by biology pesticides to increase productivity and food security. This research was conducted for eight months during March to October 2020, with a survey stage, inventory of pests in the fields using the purposive random sampling method in Soporaru backwoods, Sigotom Julu Village, Pangaribuan District, North Tapanuli. The application of biology pesticides consists of 5 treatments, namely: B0 (Control, without application); BP1 (neem leaves, galangal, lemongrass, detergent, water); BP2 (soursop leaves, galangal rhizome, garlic, detergent, water); BP3 (soursop leaves, detergent, water) and BP4 (kenikir leaves, marigold flowers, Zinnia flowers). The composition of insects consist of 8 order, 26 familes, totalpopulation were 1.080 individuals.The calculation of the Margallef species richness index (Rp=7.25; Rc=7.15), the Evenness evenness index (Ep= 0.62; Ec=0.57) and the Shannon Wiener diversity index (Hp'= 2.38; Hc’=2.12). The parameters of temperature, humidity, rainfall) are calculated. The use of biology pesticides has strategic potential in controlling the dominant pests of rice in the future.

Abstract

This research entitled Motivation of Farmers in Changing the Function of Banana Land to Rice Paddy in South Sipora District, Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra Province. The imbalance in meeting the increasing needs of the population and changing consumption patterns in the community requires extensive agricultural land to fulfill food and housing which results in land conversion. The purpose of this research was to determine the level of motivation of farmers and the factors that influence the motivation of farmers in the conversion of banana land to lowland rice. This research uses a descriptive analysis method with a quantitative approach. Methods of data collection using questionnaires and methods of data analysis using a Likert scale and multiple linear regression. The results of the research showed that the motivation level of farmers in changing the function of banana land to lowland rice was very high, namely 83.62%, while the results of multiple linear regression on the factors that influenced the conversion of banana land to lowland rice, obtained the following equation Y= 14.321 + 0.736 X1 + 0.510 X2 - 0.463 X3 + 0.525 X4 - 0.514 X5 + 0.578 X6 - 0.406 X7. A further test using t-count shows that the factors that have a significant effect on the motivation of farmers in the conversion of banana land to lowland rice are age (4.482), education (2.419), income (-3,379), availability of production facilities (3,764), government policy (-3,059), the role of extension workers (2,838) and agricultural production (-2,515).It is predicted that the conversion of banana land to lowland rice is one solution to meet the availability of food security in Kep. Mentawai, West Sumatra.

Abstract

ABSTRACTCoffee Fruit Borer (CFB) (Hypothenemus hampeii) is an important pest that attacks the coffee fruit in coffee plantation. However, farmers have difficulty getting attractant, then need to look for alternative attractant derived from natural ingredients that exist around the farm, one of them such as chlorogenic acid compounds that exist in the coffee fruit. This research was conducted at 4 locations (2 sites in Sidikalang and 2 sites in Sumbul sub district with 5 stations and 5 treatments) used a randomized block design with 5 treatments, that are K0 (Control), K1 (25 ml chlorogenic acid compound), K2 (50 ml chlorogenic acid compound), K3 (75 ml chlorogenic acid compound), K4 (100 ml chlorogenic acid compound). The trap uses a perforated aqua bottle and is hung on twigs at a height of 1.2 m. The results showed that the highest CFB collection from SiR2K2 at Sidikalang location on Robusta coffee with 50 ml of chlorogenic acid by 53 individuals, meanwhile the lowest CBF trapped is control treatment at Sumbul location on Robusta coffee type (SuR4K0) by 14 individuals And treatment (SuR3K4) at Sumbul location with Robusta and 100 ml of chlorogenic acid was the best treatment to reduce the percentage of CFB attack. The percentage of CFB attack with air humidity shows significance at F=0,018, p <0.05 and air temperature with F = 0,030, p, 0.05, where both of these factors greatly influence the percentage of PBKo attack. While Pearson Correlation value analysis between moisture and percentage of attack that is                  r = 1,000*, show the higher of moisture hence will be higher percentage of attack. CFB control measures are carried out by catching female flying insects using a pulling compound (attractant) so that the population of CFB in the coffee plantation will be reduced. Keywords: Attractant, Chlorogenic Acid, Hypothenemus hampeii, Coffee Plantation, Dairi  ABSTRAKPenggerek Buah Kopi (PBKo) (Hypothenemus hampei) merupakan hama penting yang menyerang buah kopi. Akan tetapi petani kesulitan mendapatkan atraktan, untuk itu perlu dicari atraktan alternatif yang berasal dari bahan-bahan nabati alami yang ada disekitar petani salah satunya seperti senyawa asam klorogenat yang ada pada buah kopi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di 4 lokasi perkebunan kopi masyarakat dimana 2 lokasi berada di Kecamatan Sidikalang dan 2 lokasi lainnya berada di Kecamatan Sumbul, Kabupaten Dairi, Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu K0 (Kontrol), K1 (Senyawa asam klorogenat 25 ml),  K2 (Senyawa asam klorogenat 50 ml), K3 (Senyawa asam klorogenat 75 ml), K4 (Senyawa asam klorogenat 100 ml). Tiap lokasi terdiri dari 5 unit dan tiap unit terdiri dari 5 perlakuan. Perangkap menggunakan botol aqua yang dilubangi dan digantung pada ranting pada ketinggian 1,2 m. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan (SiR2K2) yaitu pada lokasi Sidikalang pada jenis kopi Robusta dengan asam klorogenat sebanyak 50 ml merupakan perlakuan terbaik dalam meningkatkan jumlah PBKo terperangkap yaitu dengan rataan 8,83 individu, sedangkan perlakuan (SuR3K4) pada lokasi Sumbul dengan jenis kopi Robusta dan penggunaan atraktan asam klorogenat sebanyak 100 ml merupakan perlakuan terbaik dalam menekan persentase serangan PBKo. Persentase serangan CFB dengan kelembaban udara menunjukkan signifikansi pada nilai F= 0,018, p<0.05 dan suhu udara dengan nilai F= 0,030, p,0.05, dimana kedua faktor tersebut sangat mempengaruhi persentase serangan PBKo. Sedangkan analisis nilai Pearson Correlation antara kelembaban dan persentase serangan yaitu r= 1,000*,menunjukkan semakin tinggi kelembaban maka akan semakin tinggi persentase serangan. Upaya pengendalian PBKo dilakukan dengan cara menangkap serangga betina yang terbang menggunakan senyawa penarik (atraktan) sehingga populasi PBKo di pertanaman  kopi akan berkurang. Kata Kunci : Atraktan, Asam Klorogenat, Hypothenemus Hampei, Perkebunan Kopi, Dairi.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study effect and correlation of physics-chemistries with density of A. femina. The method using Mark Release Recapture with 8 stations in Manik Rambung Village, Simalungun District. The result showed 2351 individuals of A. femina, consist of male 1345 individuals and female 1006 individuals. Comparison of male and female were 87% and 13%, while score of Lincoln’s indices highest calculated in twelve sampling were 451 individuals. The result of analysis correlation showed humidity given effects on population of density A. femina recapture were 0.432. Keyswords : Density, damselfly, Agriocnemis femina, rice field, Simalungun.
