Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to increase students' active involvement and interest in learning in Sociology lessons by implementing a discussion method based on an inquiry approach. This study was conducted using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design on grade XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar. The main problems faced in the Sociology learning process are low student participation and lack of interest in learning, which are caused by the dominance of lecture methods that do not actively involve students. By implementing the discussion method as part of the inquiry model, students are directly involved in the learning process through asking questions, discussing, and analyzing social phenomena in groups. This study was conducted in two cycles that included the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The results of this study showed a significant increase in student participation, from 65% in cycle I to 85% in cycle II. The average student score also increased from 70 to 82. In addition, students showed increased enthusiasm in following the lesson because they felt more appreciated and given the opportunity to express themselves. These findings indicate that the discussion method in the context of inquiry can be an effective learning strategy to improve the quality of Sociology learning. By actively involving students, this model not only improves learning outcomes, but also develops critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills that are essential in 21st century education. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif dan minat belajar siswa dalam pelajaran Sosiologi dengan menerapkan metode diskusi yang berlandaskan pendekatan inkuiri. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) pada siswa kelas XI di SMA Muhammadiyah 6 Makassar. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi dalam proses pembelajaran Sosiologi adalah rendahnya partisipasi siswa dan kurangnya minat untuk belajar, yang disebabkan oleh dominasi metode ceramah yang tidak melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Dengan penerapan metode diskusi sebagai bagian dari model inkuiri, siswa terlibat secara langsung dalam proses pembelajaran melalui aktivitas bertanya, berdiskusi, dan menganalisis fenomena sosial dalam kelompok. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang mencakup tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam partisipasi siswa, dari 65% pada siklus I menjadi 85% pada siklus II. Rata-rata nilai siswa juga mengalami peningkatan dari 70 menjadi 82. Di samping itu, siswa menunjukkan meningkatnya antusiasme dalam mengikuti pelajaran karena merasa lebih dihargai dan diberikan kesempatan untuk mengekspresikan diri mereka. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa metode diskusi dalam konteks inkuiri dapat menjadi strategi pembelajaran yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran Sosiologi. Dengan melibatkan siswa secara aktif, model ini tidak hanya memperbaiki hasil pembelajaran, tetapi juga mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis, komunikasi, dan kolaborasi yang sangat penting di era pendidikan abad ke-21.

Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of everyday life, allowing users to share information, shape public opinion, and build social narratives. Instagram, as one of the popular platforms in Indonesia, plays a significant role in gender discourse. This study analyzes how the Instagram account @indonesiafeminis constructs gender narratives and audience responses to the issues raised, such as women's empowerment, gender equality. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis, this study explores the account's communication strategies, including the use of infographics, personal narratives, and interactive dialogues. The results show that @indonesiafeminis has succeeded in building inclusive opinions by utilizing Instagram's features to convey strong and inclusive messages. The account also functions as a gender education space, although its success is highly dependent on the delivery of culturally relevant messages. Thus, this study highlights the potential of social media as an inclusive dialogue space that drives social change. However, a more adaptive approach is needed to bridge differences in views and improve gender literacy in society. This study makes an important contribution to understanding the dynamics of gender conversations on Indonesian social media and suggests more effective advocacy strategies.
