Abstract

This study examines the role of PT INKA's export of railway coaches to Bangladesh as an instrument of Indonesia's economic diplomacy to strengthen bilateral cooperation and transportation infrastructure development. PT INKA’s success in entering the Bangladeshi market is supported by product quality, competitive pricing, and technical adaptation to local needs. Indonesia’s economic diplomacy is manifested through multi-actor synergy involving ministries, financing institutions, and industry players in strategic coordination. The findings indicate that this export not only enhances national industry competitiveness but also deepens Indonesia–Bangladesh bilateral relations politically and economically. Global competition and geopolitical dynamics pose challenges that require adaptive diplomatic strategies moving forward. This study highlights the importance of economic diplomacy as a tool to integrate national interests with international cooperation in non-traditional markets.

Abstract

This study aims to explore public sentiment in the United Kingdom toward illegal immigrants through a netnographic analysis of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Using a qualitative approach, data were collected from posts, comments, and user interactions that discussed the issue of illegal immigration over a specified time period. The findings reveal a wide spectrum of public opinions influenced by factors such as economic conditions, national security concerns, media representation, and political ideology. The sentiments ranged from strong support for human rights to firm rejection of illegal immigrants, often accompanied by xenophobic narratives. This research highlights how social media serves as a space for the articulation of public identity, fears, and expectations regarding immigration policy. The study seeks to contribute to the development of more responsive and inclusive public policies on immigration in the UK.

Abstract

This study examines Sweden’s historic shift from military non-alignment to joining NATO as its 32nd member. Based on primary data from an interview with the Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Daniel Blockert, the research identifies Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 as the primary catalyst for this paradigm shift. The findings suggest that Sweden’s motivations were driven by an existential security threat and the strategic necessity of synchronizing defense policies with neighboring Finland. The integration offers fundamental advantages, including collective defense guarantees under Article 5, enhanced control over the Baltic Sea region which is now effectively a "NATO lake" and advanced military interoperability. However, the accession introduces significant challenges, such as the erosion of a 200-year-old identity of neutrality, fiscal burdens of meeting the 2% GDP defense spending requirement, and the diplomatic complexity of navigating NATO’s nuclear umbrella while maintaining anti-nuclear values. This study concludes that while NATO membership provides a robust security deterrent, Sweden must now navigate a complex landscape of administrative restructuring and evolving international perceptions in the Global South.
