Abstract

This study explores the strategic optimization of family pastoral counseling within the context of KGPM Bukit Sion Tumumpa, a local church facing increasing pastoral challenges. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research employed field observations, interviews, and documentation to uncover the current state of counseling practices. Findings revealed three core issues: the absence of a structured system for counseling delivery, insufficient counseling competence among church leaders, and a lack of emotional safety for congregants seeking help. Counseling was often reactive, undocumented, and reliant solely on pastoral availability, without support from elders or deacons as mandated by church governance. Moreover, counseling literacy was minimal, and trust barriers due to gossip or judgment further discouraged congregants—particularly women and youth—from seeking support. These findings underscore the need for systemic reform, including scheduled pastoral visits, competency-based training, and the cultivation of safe, confidential spaces within the church. By addressing these gaps, local churches can transform pastoral counseling into a redemptive ministry that strengthens family units and enhances spiritual growth.

Abstract

This article explores the importance of religious moderation in harmonizing local culture, particularly the Kampetan ritual in Minahasa, with Christian principles. As a cultural heritage, the Kampetan ritual reflects values such as community solidarity, respect for ancestors, and togetherness. However, certain elements of the ritual, such as ancestor invocation, conflict with biblical teachings. Through religious moderation, positive cultural elements can be preserved and imbued with new meanings aligned with the Word of God. This approach includes transforming cultural symbols, such as the "watu" stone, reinterpreted as Christ the Cornerstone, and the red cloth symbolizing the blood of Christ. Churches play a crucial role in guiding congregations to understand, filter, and respect local traditions without compromising their faith principles. Furthermore, dialogue between traditional leaders and the church is essential to achieving harmony between tradition and faith. In conclusion, religious moderation offers a solution to balance local traditions and Christian faith. This approach not only preserves cultural identity but also enriches its meaning in the light of biblical truth, fostering harmony that strengthens faith and community unity.

Abstract

Sekolah minggu ialah salah satu wadah pelayanan yang penting bagi anak-anak, terlebih khusus anak usia dini. Begitu banyak orang tua yang mempercayakan anak-anak mereka untuk diajarkan kepada para guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen terlebih khusus yang ada di sekolah minggu dengan tujuan agar perkembangan karakter serta spiritual anak menjadi lebih baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan analisis komprehensif mengenai pengaruh yang diberikan oleh para pengajar Pendidikan Agama Kristen di Sekolah Minggu terhadap perkembangan moral dan perilaku anak usia dini, dengan memperhatikan kemampuan kognitif, emosional, dan fisiknya. Kata kunci : Guru Pendidikan Agama Kristen, Sekolah Minggu, Pembentukan Karakter, Era digital
