Abstract

This study aims to improve letter recognition skills in children aged 5–6 years at TK Punai, Tanjung Seteko Village, Indralaya Subdistrict, through the implementation of interactive card play methods. The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 16 children in group B, aged 5–6 years. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation, while data analysis utilized both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed an improvement in children’s letter recognition ability, with 81% in the first cycle and an increase to 95% in the second cycle. Thus, the interactive card play method proved effective in enhancing children's letter recognition skills. This study also had a positive impact on children's cognitive development, concentration, and memory. Interactive card games can stimulate children to think actively, develop their ability to remember letter shapes and names, and train eye-hand coordination.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berhitung permulaan pada anak usia 5-6 tahun melalui kegiatan Market Day di TK Islam Luthfiah Kabupaten Ogan Ilir. Penelitian menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dengan setiap siklus meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 22 anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan berhitung permulaan anak setelah diterapkan kegiatan Market Day. Persentase kemampuan berhitung anak pada kondisi awal sebesar 58,4%, meningkat menjadi 63,54% pada siklus I, dan mencapai 82,18% pada siklus II. Dengan demikian, kegiatan Market Day dapat dijadikan alternatif pembelajaran yang efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berhitung permulaan anak usia dini.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of number concept knowledge among children aged 4-5 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the smart tree media on number concept understanding in children aged 4-5 years.This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental (pre-experimental) method through a single-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 16 children in Group A at Muthih Kindergarten, Kayuagung, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through structured observations using checklists and worksheets (LKPD) compiled based on indicators of number concept understanding. Data analysis included validity and reliability tests, a chi-square normality test, and a t-test hypothesis test. The results of the normality test indicated a normal distribution (x² calculated ≤ x² table). The hypothesis decision-making process was based on a t-test analysis; if t² calculated ≥ t², then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it is concluded that t count ≥ t table (4.38 ≥ 1.75) so it can be said that Ho count is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the use of smart trees can be concluded that there is a significant influence of Smart Tree Media on the ability to recognize number concepts in children aged 4-5 years at TK Muthiah Islamic School Kayuagung.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flashcard media with the theme of traditional Pagaralam food on the number recognition ability of children aged 4–5 years at PAUD Kartini Lahat. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method with a one-group pre-test–post-test design. The research sample consisted of 16 children selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, testing, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using a normality test and continued with hypothesis testing. The average number recognition ability of children aged 4–5 years increased from 55.56 (pretest) to 91 (posttest), with a difference of 35.44 points. The Shapiro–Wilk normality test showed that the data were normally distributed (pretest Sig. 0.630; posttest Sig. 0.221). The results of the paired sample t-test showed a Sig.(2-tailed)value ofp < 0.001 < 0.05 witht = -73.404. Thefindings of this study indicate that the Pagar Alam traditional food theme flashcard media has a significant effect on the ability to recognize numbers in children aged 4-5 years, the Pagar Alam traditional food theme flashcard media is effective because it presents concrete, visual, and interactive learning. This media supports cognitive development, especially the ability to recognize numbers, as well as developing aspectsoflanguage,social-emotional, and physical motor skills. In addition,the use of flashcards also fosters children's understanding and love of local culture through the introduction of regional traditional foods.
