Abstract

Abstract The incessant contestation of da'wah has given the community ample opportunities for expression. However, those who lack religious insight often disregard the fundamental principles and values that should form the basis of da'wah. This situation is concerning for Muslims as it could potentially become a parasite on the existence of the Islamic religion itself. Meanwhile, the Qur'an contains many verses containing ibrah (lessons) regarding the pattern of da'wah through the presentation of stories. Therefore, to refresh the da'wah pattern that is offensive, open, and humanistic, the author will examine the verses of the Qur'an that tell the story of the da'wah of the Prophet Ibrahim. There are two things that the author will discuss, namely: 1) What are the theological values of the Prophet Ibrahim's da'wah? 2) what are the moral values of the Prophet Ibrahim's da'wah? The following two formulations will be revealed based on the pragmatic perspective of the Qur'an by focusing on two theories: speech act theory to assess the speaking patterns of Prophet Ibrahim when doing da'wah and implicature theory to find the intended value based on the implications of the speech expressed by Prophet Ibrahim. The research concludes: First, The theological values in the da'wah of Prophet Ibrahim prioritize rationality and reject religious fanaticism propaganda and tyranny. The da’wah model of Prophet Ibrahim embodies these values. Second, The value of morality in the da'wah of Prophet Ibrahim is evident in his polite attitude in da'wah towards his parents and his courage to uphold the truth through non-verbal means (da'wah bil hal), as well as da'wah through parenting models to children which are carried out persuasively and offensively. Abstract

Abstract Functionally, citizenship was initiated in the West by Aristotle during the Ancient Greek period, in the sense that citizenship was held only by the state apparatus. Citizenship evolved from functional to national after the emergence of the nation-state. Citizenship also emerged in the Islamic world when al-Farabi categorized citizens into small, medium, and large communities. Al-Maududi also popularised the concept of muslim and dhimmi citizens within the Islamic state. Some of these ideas have influenced the concept of citizenship worldwide, including Indonesia. It is noteworthy that despite having a majority muslim population, Indonesia's laws are positive laws based on the agreement of the founding fathers, rather than religious law as in some Islamic countries. This research will trace the influence of the above ideas on Hamka by answering two main questions: why was Hamka so concerned about citizenship in Indonesia, and how does he explain the concept of citizenship in his tafsir? Fazlur Rahman's double movement hermeneutics is used to interpret the classical meaning in the context of Hamka's social reality, which intersects with Christianisation, secularisation, modernisation, and classical Minangkabau tradition. The analysis concludes that Hamka's concept of citizenship is closely linked to the political upheavals experienced during the Old Order and New Order periods. This can be traced through his discussions about state issues, including the system of government, the status of citizens, as well as their rights and obligations. Abstract

Abstract This research will discuss the Koran that lives in coastal communities in Madura, specifically in the Masalembu archipelago, Sumenep. The living Quran study framework is used to explore the reception of the Koran at the functional level of fishing communities. This research uses a descriptive-analytic method with a discursive tradition approach. Questions to be answered: First, how is the reception of the Al-Qur'an by the Masalembu people in the Toron Parao slametan tradition? and second, how the discursive traditions are formed within it? The basis of the research is a field study whose data sources are obtained from interviews and observations, plus several literature reviews. From this goal, it will result; first, in the slametan toron parao tradition in Masalembu, the letters of the Koran used are closely related to the hope of safety, wealth, and avoidance of evil; secondly, a ritual leader (kiai) has a central role in the tradition and the community entrusts his role from generation to generation. Apart from that, people's belief in the magical side of the Koran forms a religious pattern for coastal people and Madurese in general. Keywords: Living Qur'an, Slametan Toron Prao, Madura Coast

Abstract

Abstract Interpretation of the Qur'an encompasses various methods and branches, depending on the study's requirements and the type of verse being interpreted. Each method offers a different and complementary perspective of analysis. One such method is the visualisation of the Qur'an, which involves interpreting the Qur'an through imaginary projections. This model of interpretation, also known as 'at-tashwir', was introduced by Sayyid Quthb. This method tries to strengthen the analysis with a visual point of view and then discuss it with psychological studies. The author poses two main questions: What is the visualisation of Qur'anic verses? And how does it correlate with psychological theories? The study will explore the meaning of verses in the Qur'an by emphasising the visual aspects present in the text. Visualisation is based on information that can be perceived by the five human senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste. After obtaining the images, the data will be analysed psychologically, supported by other scientific disciplines such as biology, history, and the arts. The use of psychology and related disciplines' theories will aid in understanding the visualisation. The analysis aims to explore the workings of the five senses and the human body's response to different stimuli. The study found that visualising Qur'anic verses has a significant emotional impact on the reader. The human psyche is closely linked to physical and empirical realities, which mutually influence each other. Keywords: Qur'an, Visualisation, Senses, Imagination, Psychology

Abstract

The jamasan keris tradition is a cultural heritage of the Javanese and Madurese communities that continues to be preserved by the people of Aeng Tong-Tong Village, Sumenep. This procession is not only understood as the physical maintenance of the keris but also as a form of respect for the spiritual values believed to be contained within the heirloom. In the context of the Aeng Tong-Tong community, this practice has been carried out from generation to generation and has become an important part of the local cultural identity. This study aims to reveal two things: First, how the Qur’anic reception is manifested in the jamasan keris procession. Second, what values are contained within the practice of jamasan. To achieve these objectives, the study employs a qualitative approach with field study methods and reception analysis (reception theory) to explore the meanings embedded in the jamasan keris practice. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of the jamasan procession carried out by the community. This research also examines how Qur’anic texts—particularly Surah Yāsin, al-Fātihah, and Āyat al-Kursī—are positioned and interpreted within the cultural ritual structure of jamasan. This theoretical approach allows the researcher to understand the community’s reception of the Qur’an as a sacred text that interacts with local traditions. The study concludes: First, jamasan keris serves as a means of preserving ancestral values as well as spiritualizing the heirloom through rituals considered sacred. Second, the recitation of Qur’anic surahs in the jamasan procession functions as a medium of purification, protection, and reinforcement of spiritual energy. The reception of the Qur’an in this context is not merely textual-normative but has undergone cultural reinterpretation, reflecting a process of acculturation between Javanese mysticism (Kejawen) and Islamic teachings.
