Abstract

Digital media plays a crucial role as a primary source of information, reference, and inspiration in shaping parenting communication styles, particularly among younger parents such as Generation Z. Gen Z parents actively access social media content to gain insights into more empathetic and adaptive communication patterns for their children's needs. This study aims to understand how digital media consumption, particularly through the Instagram account @talkparenting, influences the parenting communication styles of Gen Z parents aged 23–28. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews and digital documentation of eight purposively selected informants. The results indicate that social media is not only a source of information but also functions as an agent of socialization of new values and norms in family communication practices. Gen Z parents tend to adopt an affective communication style—which emphasizes empathy, emotional validation, and acceptance—and an adaptive directive, a parenting approach that remains directive yet flexible and supportive of children's development. The educational content on the @talkparenting account serves as a primary reference in shaping their understanding of positive communication, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation in parent-child relationships. These findings support Kaplan and Haenlein's (2010) theory regarding the role of social media as an interactive platform that facilitates social learning and the transformation of interpersonal communication styles. This study highlights the importance of improving digital literacy among young parents, as well as the need to develop positive, educational, and relevant parenting content to support the formation of healthy communication patterns within the family. Thus, social media has great potential to become a strategic partner in supporting more conscious, reflective, and value-based parenting practices. Abstract

Social conflict often arises when the public perceives that the law is enforced unfairly, triggering distrust in state institutions and increasing the potential for mass escalation. This study analyzes a conflict case between the public and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of Lampung concerning the decision to grant outpatient rehabilitation to several executives of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) following a raid at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Bandar Lampung. Using a literature study method, this research examines the dynamics of conflict through the lenses of conflict management theory, public communication, and concept of restorative justice. The findings indicate that conflict was driven by perceptions of legal injustice, a lack of transparency in rehabilitation assessment process, irregularities in the handling of evidence, and weak institutional responses to public pressure. Based on Pondy’s stages of conflict, the incident evolved from latent conflict into manifest conflict when the public engaged in mass protests demanding consistent law enforcement. The conflict resolution analysis emphasizes the need for transparent rehabilitation procedures, accountability of law enforcement agencies, participatory dialogue between institutions and the public, and policy reforms to prevent regulatory ambiguity. Furthermore, failures in BNNP Lampung’s public communication significantly contributed to a crisis of public trust. This study concludes that conflict resolution in the context of law enforcement must integrate transparency, restorative justice, communication management, and public trust restoration to maintain social stability. The findings offer both theoretical and practical contributions to strengthening conflict resolution management within Indonesian law enforcement institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the role of interpersonal communication in disseminating and introducing the Elektronik Siap Nikah dan Hamil (Elsimil) application to Family Assistance Teams (TPK). This study, a novel piece of research, comprehensively analyzes interpersonal communication in the diffusion of Elsimil, a digital innovation in public health for accelerating stunting reduction, initiated by BKKBN. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 10 informants over three months. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication plays a crucial role throughout all stages of innovation diffusion: knowledge (introducing and providing initial information), persuasion (building interest and positive attitudes), decision (encouraging adoption), implementation (guiding practical use and addressing challenges), and confirmation (ensuring sustainability). Family planning counselors serve as early adopters and opinion leaders, facilitating application adoption and bridging technical and psychological barriers faced by TPK cadres. As the first group trained on Elsimil, counselors become the primary point of reference for hesitant cadres who lack sufficient understanding. Theoretically, this study enriches Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations Theory for the implementation of digital technology in public health services, specifically in stunting prevention programs. It demonstrates how interpersonal communication and opinion leadership accelerate the adoption of innovation in community-based health interventions. Practically, the findings provide valuable insights for BKKBN and program implementers to enhance family planning counselors' digital literacy and interpersonal communication competencies, ultimately strengthening the effectiveness of stunting prevention initiatives through improved cadre support systems.   Keywords: Elsimil Application; Family Planning Counselors; Innovation Diffusion; Interpersonal Communication; Stunting Prevention

Abstract

Agrarian conflicts in Lampung illustrate that land disputes are not only about ownership but also about how language shapes public perceptions of power and justice. This study aims to explain the changing patterns of media reporting on agrarian conflicts and the social meanings emerging from these changes. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis and Lederach’s conflict transformation theory. Data were obtained from online news reports on agrarian conflicts in Lampung published between 2010 and 2025. The results show that earlier reports emphasized control and security, while later coverage shifted toward issues of justice, land rights, and community recognition. This change indicates that language in media reporting plays a crucial role in transforming public perspectives from a logic of authority toward a consciousness of justice and humanity. The study highlights the importance of fair and empathetic public communication as a foundation for peaceful and sustainable conflict resolution.
