Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of character education in the Independent Curriculum at Ratu Damai Catholic Junior High School Waibalun, with a focus on the formation of religious attitudes, cooperative skills, creativity, and independence of students. The formulation of the problem is: the extent to which character education has been internalized by students and how are the challenges faced in its application. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, and data is collected through in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. The findings show that the four aspects of character still face serious challenges, including the limitations of personal religious appreciation, low spirit of cooperation in groups, lack of courage to create, and students' dependence on completing tasks. The novelty of this research lies in the conceptual and practical integration of modern character theory with the teachings of the Catholic faith. Research recommends a more reflective and integral approach to character formation, involving principals, teachers, parents, and the Church, to create an ecosystem of Catholic education that truly educates students' hearts, minds, and faith as a whole. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi pendidikan karakter dalam Kurikulum Merdeka di SMP Katolik Ratu Damai Waibalun, dengan fokus pada pembentukan sikap religius, kemampuan bekerja sama, kreativitas, dan kemandirian siswa. Rumusan masalahnya adalah: sejauh mana pendidikan karakter tersebut telah diinternalisasi siswa dan bagaimana tantangan yang dihadapi dalam penerapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, dan data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan kepala sekolah, guru, wali kelas, dan siswa. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa keempat aspek karakter masih menghadapi tantangan serius, antara lain keterbatasan penghayatan religius yang bersifat personal, rendahnya semangat kerja sama dalam kelompok, minimnya keberanian berkreasi, serta ketergantungan siswa dalam menyelesaikan tugas. Kebaruan (novelty) penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi teori karakter modern dengan ajaran iman Katolik secara konseptual dan praktis. Penelitian merekomendasikan pendekatan formasi karakter yang lebih reflektif dan integral, melibatkan kepala sekolah, guru, orang tua, dan Gereja, untuk menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan Katolik yang benar-benar mendidik hati, budi, dan iman siswa secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

This study examines the contribution of Inahuk Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) to the Original Village Income (PADes) of Mata Air Village in 2024. The research was conducted to address the main problem that the village’s economic potential, particularly the Sulamanda Beach asset, has not been optimally managed due to the non-functioning of BUMDes in recent years. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied, supported by interviews with the Village Head, BUMDes administrators, and community members, as well as observations and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that BUMDes Inahuk did not provide any financial contribution to PADes in 2024. This condition stems from inactive business units, the absence of financial reports since 2023, weak managerial performance, and a lack of accountability from the management. The village government also failed to implement adequate supervision, resulting in operational stagnation. As a consequence, the management of Sulamanda Beach was temporarily taken over by the village government to ensure that village revenue could still be collected. These results highlight the gap between the expected role of BUMDes and its actual operation. Strengthening governance, improving managerial capacity, and clarifying institutional roles are essential steps to revitalize BUMDes Inahuk so it can contribute meaningfully to PADes and support local economic development.
