Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in schools is a set of behaviors practiced by students, teachers, and the school community to independently prevent disease and improve health. Initial observations at an elementary school in Bandar Lampung City indicated low PHBS knowledge among students, evidenced by handwashing without soap, poorly maintained toilets, and improper waste management. This community service activity was conducted using with a Two Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The sample consisted of 43 students from classes 5A and 6A, selected by total sampling. Data were collected via PHBS knowledge questionnaires (10 multiple-choice items per method). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was applied because data were not normally distributed (Shapiro-Wilk, p < 0.05). Before the intervention, most students were in the Sufficient category (score 41–60). After the sessions, 95–100% of respondents in every group reached the Very Good category (score 81–100) — 95.0% in class 5A and 100.0% in class 6A. Mean post-test scores were 94.50 (video 5A), 92.00 (lecture 5A), 97.39 (video 6A), and 96.52 (lecture 6A). The Wilcoxon test showed p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) in all groups, confirming significant improvement. Comparison using Wilcoxon on gain scores yielded Z = −0.323 with p = 0.747 (p > 0.05), indicating no significant difference between the two methods. Both methods are equally effective and can be applied as health promotion strategies in elementary schools.
