Abstract

Introduction: The nutritional and health status of pregnant women in Indonesia remains a public health concern. Malnutrition during pregnancy is influenced by several factors, including education level, maternal age, and parity. Education affects health behavior, while pregnant women under 20 and over 35 years are at higher risk of experiencing Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). High parity can also contribute to maternal and fetal health complications. Objective: This study aims to determine the association between maternal education, age, and parity with the nutritional status of pregnant women at the Majalaya Health Center in 2024. Method: A quantitative study was conducted using an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The independent variables were maternal education, age, and parity, while the dependent variable was nutritional status. A total sampling technique was used, involving 61 pregnant women. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) software. Results and Discussion: The findings showed that 30.3% of women with low education levels experienced CED, compared to 10.7% with higher education. Among those at risk age (<20 or >35), 30.0% experienced CED, while only 17.1% at non-risk age did. Women with high parity showed a 33.3% incidence of CED, while those with low parity had 13.5%. There was a significant association between maternal education, age, and parity with nutritional status. Conclusion: Education, age, and parity are significantly associated with the nutritional status of pregnant women. It is recommended that health promotion programs be enhanced to improve maternal knowledge and practices during pregnancy, particularly for those with low education, high parity, and at-risk age groups.

Abstract

Introduction: Perineal rupture during childbirth is a common cause of postpartum hemorrhage, especially among primiparous women. Pushing position during the second stage of labor may influence the likelihood of perineal injury. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between pushing positions and the incidence of perineal rupture among primiparous women. Method: This analytical observational study involved 32 primiparous mothers who gave birth at independent midwifery practices (PMB) in the Ujung Berung region during December 2024. Data were collected using observation checklists and analyzed using Chi-square tests. Result and Discussion: The findings showed that among mothers who used the semi-sitting position, 68.4% had an intact perineum, while 53.2% of those who used the lithotomy position experienced a first-degree perineal rupture. The statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between pushing position and the incidence of perineal rupture (p = 0.013). Conclusions: Pushing position during labor is significantly associated with the incidence of perineal rupture in primiparous women. The semi-sitting position is associated with a lower risk of perineal injury compared to the lithotomy position. Promoting optimal birthing positions could reduce maternal trauma during delivery.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a critical period in the development of reproductive health. Improper reproductive health behaviours can lead to a variety of long-term problems. Objective: This study aims to analyse the factors that affect reproductive health behaviour in vocational school adolescents. Method: This study uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The research sample was 125 students of SMK Wirakarya 2 Ciparay who were selected using stratified random sampling. The research instrument is in the form of a structured questionnaire to measure knowledge, attitudes, and reproductive health behaviours. Data analysis uses Chi-square test and Odds Ratio calculation. Result and Discussion: This study was obtained from respondents who had sufficient knowledge (46.4%), positive attitudes (54.4%), and positive behaviours (56.8%). There was a significant relationship between knowledge and reproductive health behaviours (p=0.011; OR=2.404) and a very significant association between attitudes and reproductive health behaviours (p=0.001; OR=3,809). Attitude is the most dominant factor influencing adolescent reproductive health behaviour. Conclusion: Knowledge and attitudes play a significant role in shaping adolescent reproductive health behaviours. Attitude has a stronger influence than knowledge. A comprehensive educational program is needed that not only increases knowledge but also forms a positive attitude towards reproductive health.
