Abstract

TikTok, as a social media platform that offers entertainment, information, and educational content, has become an integral part of modern digital life. It significantly influences cultural trends, lifestyles, and consumption patterns, serving as a reflection of ongoing social and cultural transformations. One notable phenomenon is the emergence of the so-called “TikTok standard” — particularly in terms of lifestyle and beauty norms — which shapes public perceptions and behaviors. This study aims to analyze how these TikTok standards contribute to social and cultural changes within society. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis method, the research presents detailed and clear information to enhance understanding of the data. The findings reveal that TikTok standards have significant implications for social change, driven by globalization, information technology, and consumer culture. These standards influence lifestyle shifts and redefine beauty ideals in modern society.

Abstract

Cleaning services in amusement facilities are an essential component of public service, ensuring visitor comfort and safety. However, the aspect of interpersonal communication between cleaning staff and visitors is often overlooked in service management. In fact, interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in building positive relationships, enhancing trust, and creating a satisfying service experience (DeVito, 2016). This study aims to examine how interpersonal communication by cleaning staff influences visitors’ perceptions of the quality of cleaning services at the Ferris Wheel G-Walk Citraland Palembang. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with three cleaning staff members, two facility managers, and five visitors, as well as visual documentation as supporting data. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication skills are a key factor in shaping positive visitor perceptions of cleaning services. Therefore, interpersonal communication training should be integrated into the competency development of cleaning personnel, especially in recreational public spaces that prioritize visitor experience. These findings affirm that the quality of public services is not solely determined by technical aspects, but also by the quality of human interaction during service delivery (Zeithaml, Bitner, & Gremler, 2018). Thus, interpersonal communication is a strategic component in enhancing experience-based public service quality.

Abstract

In today’s interconnected world, social media plays a vital role in how individuals build and display their identities, particularly among Generation Z. This study explores how migrant students employ Instagram’s multiple account features as a means of managing impressions, forming interpersonal connections, and navigating cultural adaptation. Drawing on Erving Goffman’s dramaturgy theory, the research examines frontstage and backstage behaviors within digital environments, highlighting how public and private expressions reflect broader cultural and emotional dynamics. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews and digital content observation. The findings reveal that while public accounts reflect aspirational self-representations aimed at social validation, private spaces serve as emotional outlets that enable authenticity and interpersonal closeness. This demonstrates how digital platforms function as arenas for cultural negotiation and identity work, underscoring the interpersonal complexities of digital communication.
