Abstract

Abstract

The need for clean water in urban areas is increasingly pressing due to limited water distribution from PDAMs and the high cost of bottled water. Refillable drinking water depots present an alternative solution, but raise concerns regarding the quality and safety of the water produced. This study aims to analyse the groundwater purification process at drinking water depots in Sidorejo Hilir urban village, Medan, to ensure the quality of water suitable for consumption. The method used was a qualitative approach with a case study, using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. The results showed that raw water comes from a borehole and is processed through six stages of filtration, from filtration using special sand to sterilisation with ultraviolet light. Water containers are also disinfected before filling. However, laboratory testing found that all depot water samples still contained coliform bacteria, posing a potential health risk. This study recommends stricter supervision of depot sanitation as well as periodic water quality tests so that health standards can be met.

Abstract

Household spending on hygiene products often places an economic burden on low-income rural communities. Workshops on making liquid dish soap are one form of creative economic empowerment that can reduce spending while opening up opportunities for home-based businesses. This community service activity was carried out in Nagori Bandar Manik Village through counseling and hands-on practice in making liquid soap using easily obtainable ingredients. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community’s knowledge and skills in independently producing dishwashing soap. In addition, an economic analysis of the business showed that the production cost was Rp1,660 per package with a potential profit of Rp2,340 per unit, making it feasible to develop as a micro business. From an Islamic economic perspective, this program reflects the values of maslahah and ta’awun because it is able to maintain the sustainability of household economies and strengthen community independence. Thus, this activity is effective in increasing expenditure efficiency while encouraging the growth of creative home-based businesses.

Abstract

Escalating household waste generation and environmental degradation necessitate a shift toward eco-conscious consumption practices. This study evaluates how Green Marketing and Religious Awareness drive the Purchasing Decision for Eco-Friendly Household Products among Muslim Families in Medan City. Utilizing a quantitative survey design, primary data were gathered via questionnaires from 100 respondents selected through a purposive sampling approach. The dataset was analyzed using multiple linear regression in SPSS 26. Findings demonstrate that Green Marketing exerts a statistically significant positive effect on buying decisions (t = 6.049, p < 0.001). Similarly, Religious Awareness positively and significantly influences purchasing behavior (t = 5.707, p < 0.001). Simultaneously, both predictors account for 60.1% of the variance in consumer choices (R² = 0.601). Ultimately, combining eco-centric marketing tactics with religious values serves as a potent framework for fostering sustainable consumption habits within Muslim households across Medan.
