<![CDATA[This research aims to analyze the representation of beauty standards in the film Imperfect through Roland Barthes semiotic approach. The background to this research focuses on how beauty standards prevailing in society are often influenced by the media, including films, which can shape individual perceptions and expectations regarding physical appearance. The film Imperfect depicts the main character's journey in facing social pressure regarding physical appearance. Using the concepts of denotation and connotation, this analysis identifies how visual and narrative elements shape meanings of beauty that are often unrealistic. Barthes emphasized that signs in films not only represent physical beauty, but also create myths that influence people's perceptions. The results of the analysis show that this film functions as a critique of rigid beauty standards, as well as highlighting the importance of self-acceptance and diversity. Through complex representation, Imperfect invites the audience to reflect on the beauty values that exist in society, while simultaneously challenging the norms that often oppress individuals, especially women. This research provides new insights into the relationship between media, culture, and identity construction. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide a deeper understanding of the influence of media on perceptions of beauty and how the film Imperfect reflects and criticizes beauty standards that apply in society, especially in the context of career, love and social pressure related to physical appearance. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis representasi standar kecantikan dalam film Imperfect melalui pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes. Fokus kajian penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana standar kecantikan yang berlaku di masyarakat sering kali dipengaruhi oleh media, termasuk film, yang dapat membentuk persepsi dan harapan individu terhadap penampilan fisik. Film Imperfect menggambarkan perjalanan karakter utama dalam menghadapi tekanan sosial terkait penampilan fisik. Dengan menggunakan konsep denotasi dan konotasi dalam semiotika Roland Barthes, analisis ini mengidentifikasi bagaimana elemen visual dan naratif membentuk makna kecantikan yang sering kali tidak realistis dengan menggunakan metode penelitian semiotika. Barthes menekankan bahwa tanda-tanda dalam film tidak hanya merepresentasikan kecantikan secara fisik, tetapi juga menciptakan mitos yang memengaruhi persepsi masyarakat. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa film ini berfungsi sebagai kritik terhadap standar kecantikan yang kaku, serta menyoroti pentingnya penerimaan diri dan keberagaman. Melalui representasi yang kompleks, Imperfect mengajak penonton untuk merefleksikan nilai-nilai kecantikan yang ada dalam masyarakat, sekaligus menantang norma-norma yang sering kali menekan individu, terutama perempuan. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan baru tentang hubungan antara media, budaya, dan konstruksi identitas. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pemahaman lebih dalam mengenai pengaruh media terhadap persepsi kecantikan serta bagaimana film Imperfect merefleksikan dan mengkritisi standar kecantikan yang berlaku di masyarakat, khususnya dalam konteks karier, cinta, dan tekanan sosial terkait penampilan fisik.]]>
