The performance of teachers in carrying out their duties and responsibilities will have a big impact on achieving the goals of an educational institution. This goal will be achieved if work performance is influenced by the school principal's leadership style. The principal's leadership style greatly influences the behavior of his subordinates, but the behavior of the subordinates may not necessarily influence the behavior of his superiors. The principal's leadership style is a consistent pattern of behavior shown by the leader and known to other parties when the leader tries to influence the activities of others. The aim of the research is to determine the leadership style of the principal of the SMP Negeri 2 Ende education unit, including: (1) Discipline; (2) Commitment; (3) Abilities and (4) Teacher responsibilities. Qualitative approach with descriptive methods, data collection techniques were carried out using interview guidelines observation guidelines, and documentation studies. The research subjects were the principal, teachers and supervisors at SMP Negeri 2 Ende. The research results found: (1) The principal's leadership style in improving teacher discipline is a telling style, apart from the telling style, the principal also applies a situational style; (2) The principal's leadership style in increasing teacher commitment is a selling (consultative) style by directing teachers to complete their tasks. The data analysis technique used in this research is multiple linear regression. The research results show that the principal's leadership style and the work motivation of education teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Ende together have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. The more appropriate the leadership style applied, the better the teachers' performance will be. Teacher performance can be improved when teachers have better work motivation.
