Abstract

The principal, who is the highest official in the school's organizational structure, certainly has considerable influence in determining the direction of policies aimed at improving school competence in the classroom. The presence of the principal is very important because he functions as a motivating force for school resources, especially instructors, employees and students. A high quality   school is largely determined by the educational leadership carried out by the Principal. School principals must develop new programs as an innovation in managing the learning process in schools. This research aims to analyze the role of school principal leadership in improving the quality of education. This research uses qualitative research methods, the main techniques for collecting data are observation and in-depth interviews. The leadership role of school principals in improving the quality of education is very important and complex. School principals as educational leaders have the responsibility to coordinate efforts to improve quality learning in schools. The leadership of the principal at SMA Negeri 2 Ende has had a positive and significant impact on teacher performance, teacher motivation and student learning achievement. This increase in teacher performance, motivation and learning achievement has the potential to improve the quality of education in schools. Thus, effective leadership from the principal can create a productive school environment, which will ultimately influence the overall quality of education. This research shows the need for additional supervision programs to improve the quality of education and the performance of school principals in carrying out their duties.
