Abstract

This study aims to analyze the foot movement patterns in the 100-meter sprint to enhance athlete performance, particularly during the initial acceleration phase. A descriptive qualitative method was employed with a 28-year-old sprinter who had competitive experience in the 100-meter sprint as the research subject. Data were collected through video recordings of the first 20 meters of the sprint track and observation sheets to assess biomechanical variables, including time, average speed, number and frequency of strides, stride length, knee and hip angles, as well as body posture. The results revealed that the athlete covered the first 20 meters in 3.93 seconds with an average speed of 5.04 m/s, completing 14 strides with an average stride length of 108.63 cm and a stride frequency of 3.33 strides/second. Biomechanical analysis showed a knee angle of 96.6°, a hip angle of 90.5°, and a body lean of 119.8°, all of which fall within the optimal range according to the literature. These findings indicate that the athlete’s acceleration performance is close to the semi-professional to professional sprinter standards; however, stride frequency improvement is still required to reach elite-level performance. This study highlights the importance of biomechanical-based technique evaluation to maximize sprint speed while minimizing the risk of injury.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the quadriceps femoris muscle on the flexibility and control of leg movements in Taekwondo athletes. The approach used is descriptive quantitative research combined with a review of biomechanics and sports physiology literature. The research subject is a single Taekwondo athlete, Ahmad Jibril (20 years old; height 167 cm; weight 67 kg), who underwent quadriceps strengthening training for two weeks with three main exercise variations: squats, lunges, and vertical leg kicks. Data were collected through knee movement angle measurements using a goniometer and video observation. The results show an increase in flexibility angles from an average of 82.4° to 169.5°, as well as more stable movement control in the ap chagi and dollyo chagi kicks. Literature review supports these findings, indicating that the strength and flexibility of the quadriceps muscles have a positive correlation with the speed and accuracy of kicks. It can be concluded that quadriceps strengthening exercises The quadriceps femoris has a significant effect on improving flexibility and leg movement control in Taekwondo athletes.

Abstract

Program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi tridarma perguruan tinggi yang menekankan pengabdian kepada masyarakat sebagai sarana pembelajaran berbasis pengalaman. Kegiatan KKN Universitas Negeri Medan tahun 2025 dilaksanakan di Desa Tumpatan, Kecamatan Lubuk Pakam, Kabupaten Deli Serdang dengan tema “Optimalisasi Potensi Desa Menuju Desa Cerdas”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan makna pengalaman mahasiswa selama mengikuti KKN, serta bagaimana kegiatan tersebut merefleksikan penerapan teori experiential learning, pembelajaran kontekstual, pemberdayaan masyarakat, pendidikan karakter, dan transformative learning. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi kegiatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman bermakna melalui lima bidang kegiatan utama, yaitu: (1) pendidikan dan sosial (kelas ceria, mengaji bersama, dan literasi anak), (2) lingkungan dan kesehatan (program biopori, ecobrick, dan senam lansia), (3) ekonomi dan kewirausahaan (pendampingan UMKM kerupuk dan tape, serta workshop basic skincare), dan (4) sosial budaya (upacara 17 Agustus dan gotong royong desa). Melalui kegiatan tersebut, mahasiswa tidak hanya menerapkan ilmu pengetahuan yang diperoleh di bangku kuliah, tetapi juga mengembangkan keterampilan sosial, empati, dan kepemimpinan. Pengalaman ini membuktikan bahwa KKN menjadi media pembelajaran transformatif yang memperkuat karakter, rasa tanggung jawab sosial, serta kesadaran mahasiswa terhadap pentingnya pemberdayaan masyarakat.
