Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is one of the effective preventive efforts in improving the health of the community, especially school-age children. Children are an age group that is vulnerable to various diseases due to lack of knowledge and good hygiene practices. This community service activity was carried out at Kinder Star Elementary School with the aim of improving the understanding and practice of PHBS among elementary school students. The activity methods include interactive counseling, demonstration of hand washing practices, and evaluation of student understanding through pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in student knowledge and skills related to PHBS. The discussion focused on the importance of integrating health education into the basic curriculum and the involvement of teachers and parents. This activity has a positive impact on increasing children's health awareness from an early age and is expected to be a model for similar activities in other schools.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the health problems that often occurs in adolescents, both boys and girls, and has a significant impact on academic achievement, physical activity, and growth and development. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of students of SMA Negeri 1 Kisaran regarding the dangers of anemia and the importance of early prevention. The method used is health education through interactive counseling and distribution of educational leaflets in August 2023. A total of 80 students from grades X and XI participated. The pre-test results showed that only 35% of students had sufficient knowledge about anemia, while after intervention through education, this figure increased to 87.5%. This activity proves that school-based education is very effective in increasing student awareness of anemia. It is hoped that similar activities can be carried out periodically as part of the UKS and promotive-preventive programs in schools.

Abstract

Vaccination has the ability to increase body immunity and fight infectious diseases. The health of the Indonesian people is decreasing due to the high infant mortality rate, and one effort to overcome this is through a vaccination program for infants and young children. However, this program still faces problems: opposition from parents. Some say that parents' reluctance to vaccinate is due to public misunderstanding about vaccines, lack of education, lack of knowledge about vaccines, some argue that whether or not they want to get immunized, they will still get a fever, and some say the reason is related to religion. The purpose of this intervention is to provide education to mothers who do not have access to basic health services. The method used is a lecture method with booklet media that provides direct information to mothers of infants and young children through open interaction. The results of the intervention obtained 81.0% of mothers had good knowledge and 19.0% of mothers had poor knowledge. The conclusion of this intervention is that most mothers know about vaccinations for their children, and it is hoped that good knowledge can help support good vaccinations for their children.
