Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas V SDN Manggahang 02. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada mata pelajaran IPAS, peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik melalui penerapan model PBL berbantuan aplikasi quizizz dibandingkan dengan model direct instructional, serta besarnya pengaruh model PBL terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah quasi experiment dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas V SDN Manggahang 02 dengan sampel dua kelas, yaitu VA sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VB sebagai kelas kontrol. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, hipotesis, N-gain, dan effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL pada pembelajaran IPAS berjalan lancar dan meningkatkan aktivitas guru serta peserta didik di setiap pertemuan. Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol, dengan rata-rata nilai posttest masing-masing 89,24 dan 79,32. Uji effect size menunjukkan nilai sebesar 3,22 yang termasuk kategori sangat besar, sehingga model problem based learning berbantuan quizizz terbukti berpengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Abstract This research was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Manggahang 02. The study aimed to examine the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the IPAS subject, the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills using PBL assisted by the quizizz application compared to the direct instructional model, and the extent of PBL effect on enhancing students’ critical thinking skills. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The population consisted of fifth-grade students at SDN Manggahang 02, with two classes selected as samples: class VA as the experimental group and class VB as the control group. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using normality, homogeneity, hypothesis, N-gain, and effect size tests. The results showed that the implementation of PBL in IPAS learning ran smoothly and increased both teacher and student activities in each session. There was a difference in students’ critical thinking improvement between the experimental and control classes, with posttest averages of 89.24 and 79.32, respectively. The effect size value of 3.22 indicated a very large effect, proving that the problem based learning model assisted by quizizz significantly enhances students’ critical thinking skills.
