Abstract

A clean home environment is a crucial factor in preventing various environmental-related diseases such as diarrhea, skin diseases, respiratory infections, and digestive disorders. The low level of awareness among the people of Ganting Damai Village regarding environmental hygiene has led to the continued presence of poorly managed waste disposal, a lack of sanitation facilities, and a lack of knowledge about clean and healthy living practices. This community service activity aims to provide training and assistance to the community to ensure they are able to maintain a clean home environment sustainably. Implementation methods include outreach, interactive discussions, and demonstrations on waste management, sanitation, and the use of existing sanitation facilities. The results of the activity indicate an increase in community understanding regarding the importance of environmental cleanliness as well as changes in behavior regarding the use of sanitation facilities and household waste management. This training is expected to be the first step in reducing the incidence of environmental-related diseases and can be used as a model for community empowerment in other areas.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to assess healthy homes in Batu Bersurat Village, Kampar Regency, Riau. The background to this activity is the problem of inadequate sanitation, limited access to clean water, and low public awareness of the importance of environmental health. The implementation method of the activity includes field surveys, data collection, processing of assessment results, and socialization to the community about the concept of healthy homes in accordance with the Technical Guidelines for Healthy Home Assessment from the Directorate General of Disease Control and Environmental Health, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (2007). The assessment is carried out using a score weighting system, where a house is categorized as healthy if it obtains a score of 80–100% of the total maximum score of 1280. The results of the activity indicate that some houses do not meet healthy home standards due to limited sanitation and ventilation facilities, and the continued presence of waterlogging problems. Through this program, the community gains practical knowledge about home hygiene, rainwater management through the construction of infiltration wells, and the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors. This activity is expected to improve the quality of environmental health, reduce the risk of disease, and become a model for implementing healthy home assessments in other areas.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Kuok Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency with the aim of providing training on making environmental road markings. The main problem faced by the partners was the community's lack of understanding regarding techniques, standards, and regulations in making road markings, as well as limited supporting facilities. The implementation method of the activity included socialization, counseling, and direct practice of making road markings by involving village officials, the community, and students. The results of the activity showed an increase in community knowledge regarding the function and importance of road markings for traffic safety, as well as practical skills in the process of making them. In addition, active community participation in this activity fostered a sense of ownership and collective awareness of the importance of road infrastructure maintenance in the village environment. This activity is expected to become a model of community empowerment that can be applied in other areas, while strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through real contributions to village development.
