Abstract

The phenomenon of secularism has created an educational space that is often detached from spiritual and religious values. For Muslim communities, particularly the younger generation growing up in Western educational systems, this has given rise to a complex identity crisis. This article aims to examine the influence of secularism on the formation of Muslim identity in Western educational environments. Employing qualitative, library-based research, this research engages critically academic literatures, seminal texts, and the works of modern Muslim thinkers. The results show that secularism not only impacts the marginalization of Islamic values in the curricula but also affects the identity formation experienced by Muslim students in their search for identity. Islamic education in the West is required not only to be a space for the transmission of religious knowledge but also to become a space for the formation of a strong religious identity. The novelty of this research lies in its exploration of Muslim identity formation in the West within the prism of contemporary Islamic discourse, thereby offering new perspectives in understanding the dynamics of the Muslim identity crisis and contextual educational strategies amidst the currents of global secularism.

The importance of this research stems from Gen Z's distinct leadership style, which often coexists with emotional volatility and mental development challenges. The primary objective is to identify Gen Z's leadership characteristics and unveil the psychological factors in the educational domain that contribute to their leadership effectiveness. To this end, the research applies Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic framework. The methodology employs a descriptive qualitative approach supported by a comprehensive literature review. Data were gathered from scholarly publications and reliable sources, using keywords such as "Gen Z leadership," "educational psychology," and "Freudian psychoanalysis." Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative methods, integrating literature findings with Freud's psychoanalytic theory. The research findings are expected to present a comprehensive overview of Gen Z's leadership dynamics, including their strengths and inherent limitations. The implications of this study are vital for formulating effective support strategies to optimize Gen Z's leadership potential in the future.

Abstract

Contemporary dynamics characterized by globalization, the information technology revolution, and shifting values have the potential to trigger socio-political complexity and polarization. In this context, political education is crucial as a central socialization tool that shapes participatory and responsible citizens, serving as the foundation for a stable political system. This research aims to examine and analyze how political education acts as a catalyst for constructive and integrated social transformation, applying Structural Functional Theory (Durkheim & Parsons) to understand its adaptive function. A qualitative methodology through a comprehensive literature review was used, analyzing various scientific publications to identify patterns and implications for the role of political education. Initial findings indicate that political education contributes to social transformation through the socialization of democratic values, the formation of adaptive change agents, and the strengthening of institutional legitimacy.
