Abstract

Writing skills are one of the competencies that students must achieve in learning Arabic. The writing ability of seventh-grade students at SMP NU Pajomblangan Pekalongan is still low. This is based on an interview with the Arabic language teacher at SMP NU Pajomblangan, who stated that one of the students' problems in writing skills is their inability to differentiate Arabic letters, making it difficult for them to write these letters without examples, along with other factors such as the lack of variety in the media used by the teacher. Therefore, there is a need for innovative media that can support student learning and motivate students, subsequently improving their learning outcomes. One such medium is SCRAPTA (Scrapbook Theme for Arabic). The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the SCRAPTA (Scrapbook Theme for Arabic) learning media in teaching Arabic writing skills to seventh-grade students at SMP NU Pajomblangan Pekalongan. This research is quantitative and quasi-experimental in nature, utilizing a one-equivalent control group design. Data collection techniques include tests and non-test methods. The instruments used include written tests and non-test instruments such as observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis techniques involve calculating the mean (average), normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study indicate that the application of SCRAPTA (Scrapbook Theme For Arabic) media is effective for teaching writing skills at SMP NU Pajomblangan Pekalongan. This is evidenced by the pretest and posttest results in both the control and experimental classes. The control class had an average pretest score of 50.92 and an average posttest score of 65.15. The experimental class had an average pretest score of 52 and an average posttest score of 74.23. This shows an improvement in both the control and experimental classes' pretest and posttest scores. The t-test calculation using SPSS 26 for writing skills obtained a sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.005. Since 0.005 < 0.05, based on the decision rule in the independent samples t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning there is a significant difference. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of SCRAPTA (Scrapbook Theme for Arabic) media is effective in teaching Arabic writing skills to seventh-grade students at SMP NU Pajomblangan Pekalongan.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of enthusiasm among students in participating in Arabic reading lessons at Islamic High Schools in Tegal Regency, due to teachers not maximizing the use of teaching media in addition to teaching modules, despite the availability of various facilities at the school. With the technological advancements happening today, the presence of digital learning media greatly aids both teachers and students in conducting learning inside and outside the classroom. Therefore, the  researcher developed the digital educational media SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) to support the learning of Arabic reading skills for tenth-grade high school students. The objectives of this research are to (1) identify the needs of teachers and students for the development of the digital educational media SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) for  Arabic reading skills, (2) develop a prototype of the digital educational media SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) for Arabic reading skills, and (3) determine the validation of  teachers and experts regarding the digital educational media SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) for Arabic reading skills. This research is a research and development (R&D) study. Data collection in this study was carried out through non-test techniques. The non-test data instruments used included instruments for teacher and student needs which were distributed before the SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) prototype was developed, and expert validation instruments to assess the prototype after it was developed. In addition, interview and documentation techniques were also used to enhance the researcher's knowledge regarding the needs of teachers and students for the SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) educational media. The results of the study indicate that teachers and students desire the development of the SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip Book) educational media for Arabic reading skills. The average score of the overall book feasibility standards is 89.37 in the range of 86-100, which falls into category 4 (very feasible), thus it can be concluded that the SABILI (Sahla Arabic Flip  Book) educational media is very feasible to be used as a learning medium to support Arabic reading skills.
