Abstract

Adolescents are the most vulnerable age group to experience body image insecurity due to social pressure and unrealistic beauty standards promoted by media and society. This photographic essay project aims to represent the negative impacts of such insecurity through a visual medium. The methodology includes literature review and in-depth interviews with individuals who have personal experiences related to body image issues. Findings reveal that negative body perception can lead to psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. Through a visual storytelling approach, this project conveys the emotions, body language, and internal conflicts experienced by the subjects. The conclusion of this design project highlights photography as an effective educational and reflective medium that can raise awareness, portray complex psychological realities, and foster empathy toward mental health and body image issues.

Abstract

Environmental cleanliness issues and the low level of hygiene and sanitation awareness among MSME actors are the main concerns in RW 07, Rancagong Village, Tangerang Regency. The absence of waste bins in each neighborhood unit has led to open burning practices that negatively impact health and the environment. Furthermore, local MSME actors lack proper knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation practices. This community service project aims to improve environmental hygiene and sanitation awareness through two main strategies, for the first is providing waste bins in each neighborhood unit and the second is about conducting participatory educational socialization on hygiene and sanitation practices targeted at MSMEs. This study employs a qualitative approach with data triangulation methods, including observation, interviews, and literature review. The results demonstrate that the provision of waste bins effectively reduces open burning habits, while the socialization significantly increases MSME actors’ awareness and knowledge of proper hygiene in food production. This program is expected to serve as an effective model for improving local environmental and public health through community empowerment.
